I just sold something and get a email saying they held my funds and are investigating it. All 540$ of it! Damnit!!!!!

I sent them all the proof they need to win this in my favor but I have read articles of thousands of sellers getting screwed. I will be out 540$ if they win plus the items i sent them.

If so I will be forced to sell my PSP I just received so I can have a little cash.

Well at least they didnt freeze my account i had over 1,100$ in my account.

Why do people try to scam so much ? >.<

So true So true, If I were you i would probably get that 1,100 out. I don't trust paypal with anymore than $200.

Why did they keep it? Is there any reason to other than "investigating" it?

I agree, don't keep a lot of cash sitting in your Paypal account. If I recieve more than $100, I almost always bank it.

I do one better. I have 2 paypal accounts. One that has my bank and credit card information. The other was signed up using a Simon Giftcard (Yes, they accept them). When ever I buy anything on ebay. I send money from my 'real' account to my 'front'. Pay the person. Getting paid is in reverse. If paypal ever has any issues with my account. They can suck it. Go ahead, put a $1000 reversal etc on that $20 debit card.

That's strictly against their terms and conditions. They will figure it out eventually (they have employees whose only job is to look for activities like this).

yes there is... the scammer got his stuff then filed a reversal.... so if he wins he gets the 540$ and the items i sent him.

I got proof of me delivering the items and recorded our msn conversations so hopefully it will come down to me winning, if not we can also have a donation to help song out after he got screwed if you like lol.

Wel they won't try and take it out of your bank or your credit card, they'll put your account in the negative. They give you emails saying if you don't restore your balance in 180 days they may lock your account. This happened to me, and i was like ok lock my account as long as i won't have to pay the $55. About 100 days later I got an email that said they would press charges and file a lawsuit if I didn't pay it within 10 days. Goodluck "scamming" PayPal roll

You should file a fraud report with the local police. What the guy is commiting is wire fraud, which is a felony.

When people pull crap like this go straight to the police. Notify paypal.com that you filed a police report and give them the report number. If there is a pattern of paypal doing this kind of crap it will be noticed and THEY will be investigated.

That's really scary if true. So basically I could have funds taken because some idiot I sold something to on ebay frauded someone else, but paid me?

Maybe I just need to set up some more laundering.

Dude, you'd better send that money to someone you can trust, or spend it IMMEDIATELY. once paypal has a problem with one account, it'll only take them a day or two to lock your other account and YOU WILL NOT GET ANY OF THAT MONEY BACK.

I ain't kidding, if you have the paypal visa, go buy something immediately, if you don't, buy somehting on fleabay and pay them immediately, I promise you paypal will keep that money. They have just done this to me, keeping my 300 bux, after someone claimed unauthorized funds on an ebay xbox transaction.

540, eh? smells like an xbox. SPEND!!! I bet in 3 days your second account will be locked.

That's why you don't keep money 'lingering' in your account. As soon as you receive money, deposit it so they can't touch it.

19-02-2006 15:59:03

What's ridiculous about this whole thing is that you have to go through the trouble at all. That PayPal does not protect sellers of items at all. Google's system will kick paypal's ass once it comes out, I swear. I think we should make a concerted effort, at least here at FiPG, to stop using paypal because of shit like this. We should all switch to Google, and send them a letter saying that we are and why. It may not make much of an impact, but it's worth a shot.

Nearly th same thing happened to me and I posted it here. There wa like 300 dollars in my account and the bitch who sent it to me to design her site file a reversal! So Paypal locked my account. I then closed my bank account and opened another. (not because of this) Paypal wouldnt even let me add my new account to the Paypal account so I could get the money. I called them and after being on hold for 30 freakin minutes they allowed me to add another account. Bad thing now is I had already opened a new Paypal account. So Im screwed outta the money unless I close that other account and attach my account to the one with the 300.00. If thats even allowed.
