Ladies and gentlemen, I'm looking to add more RAM to my home machine. I have 3 slots, two of them filled with Geil 256MB of DDR PC3200 totally 512MB (obviously not enough). I'm looking to add more RAM or just replace my existing so I have at least 1 gig.

Any suggestions? I'd prefer two sticks of 512 or, if I really save money, two sticks of 1 gig.

Thanks in advance!

I recommended this to my friend http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220037 and it works great for him. ~$78 for a decent brand of RAM with heat spreaders isn't bad.

edit Here's the same brand (2GB) for $158 http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220079

Thanks, although I have enough fans in my system that heat SHOULDN'T be an issue, but you never know.

I tried finding some Geil RAM (which is what I have now) because it's been BEAUTIFUL and the dual channeling is great (which is why I want two sticks, rather than just one) but maybe I didn't search right..most of the ones that came back were refurbished. lishrugli

I found the brand you're speaking of http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820144310

They're usually not out of stock long..

I have a stick of 512 Geil RAM in my other computer and it works pretty well, only cost me $42 I believe about 1 year ago.

I just got a stick of this

http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145504

And it has made a very noticable difference. It has LED lights on the side of it to show you how much it's using at any given time. It is a little on the expensive side, but very much worth it.

Well the side of my case is "open" or transparent anyway so I can see it. That RAM is high-end RAM and most peple who would condier having high-end RAM wouldn't have a completely enclosed case anyway. shrug

I have a window on mine, so that would be beneficial. However, it probably doesn't match all my LED fans (which are purple). ;)

People who buy the led-lit RAM use it to light their case, for the most part. Check out Hardforum.com for some serious case modders and pics of their rigs.
