I used to be a big fan of musicmatch also, then it started to revolve too much around their online service. Now i prefer Winamp.

If you're using winamp 5.12, you should update to 5.13 just in case. There's some exploit having to do with playlists. I didn't want to since I'm lazy but I ended up doing so, and it was painless.

Is it possible for WinAmp to play the music on an iPod that's connected to a different computer?

I have my iPod connected upstairs and I can view it, and, delete files onto it from downstairs but I just can't play any of the music on it.
