My ipod should be in warranty still since I recieved it less than a year ago but since I got it from a freesite and dont have a proof of purchase apple is telling me it is out of warranty. Does anyone have a sales receipt for a 20Gb monochrome ipod and a receipt for a 60Gb photo ipod. Thanks in advance +10 kma if you can help.

um, they can compare your receipt to your ipod bud
and that means that the manufacturer bought it from apple then held it for a while until you got it

how can they compare the receipt to the ipod? if its the same model, same sku its fine.

ive never heard of ANY business scanning serial numbers for the receipt.

Yeah, it's common practice for major retailers to program their systems to recognize the serial UPC when scanning, and include it on the receipt.
I'm not saying a smaller store will do that, but most big ones do.
