Yea, Guitars. I'm going to get a new one today at Guitar Center. I'm looking for an electric one in particular. I have like 300$, yes, I know, not a lot. I just want a guitar that's going to sound very cool...something that has a great sound and can play in most any type of style of music. I already have a fender strat squier...I was looking at a fender tele squir. It's cheap and I've heard good reviews. I've never actually heard a tele, or I have and just not recognized it but I guess it has a nice sound to it. I play guitar decently, and am joining a band soon. They all have les paul's...gibsons, you know. I listen to like alternative music like yellowcardd, sugarcult, if you know any sort of guitars in that kind of music, throw it out! I'm open to ideas and I'm leaving at like 200 pm. Thanks for the help!

strats don't even sound that goof imo
fenders sort of suck...
just try out the guitars in your price range and find the style you like, then buy it online for half the price.

I use a Fender Squier Strat, but I haven't been playing that long, it is good enough for me until I get to the point where spending $500+ on a guitar would be justifiable.

Gibsons have a very distinct, very amazing sound. Good for certain aspects of lead, they have amazing sustain, and a loud drive. They have no tremelo thats the trade off for good sustain

Check godsmack, Zepplin, a lot of other metal bands, B.B. King

avg. price $1000+

With a gibson you are paying for luxory and style too. Remember that.
Fenders tend to have a wide varitey of sounds. A strat is the most versitle guitar your money can buy. They come stock with a tremelo, but you can buy them hard-tailed too.

Hendrix, Cobain, Eric Clapton, Tom Morello, Stevie Ray Vaughn probably a greater majority of alternative rock bands, all use strats.

avg cost $400 +

Fenders cost less because they are less about style more about sound, and being the all american guitar.

Then you have hollowbody's. These aren't a good beginner guitar, but they are also quite unique. The hollowbody design, offers great reverb, and a fullness to everything you play on it. A lot of alternative bands swear by them, including Incubus. Lot's of Jazz guitarist use them too. Not really that good for metal at all.

there are also your Ibanez or Jackson nu-metal "COOL" looking guitars, I don't know anything about these so I won't touch on em, but they look cheaper, and less versitle than any guitar listed above.

I use a old squire strat i've had since i was in 5th grade, and a fairly new expensive Telecaster. My strat actually sounds better each year than the year before it, and although the action isn't great the sound is. The older squires were much better and carefully manufactured than the new ones though.

$300 can get you a decent mexican strat, which is what I reccomend. Get the guy to play it for you on a variety of amps and show you what its capable off.

most of a guitars sound comes from whose playing it, and the amp. So no need to go overboard.

look at guitar center, and buy from musicains friend

maybe take that in and get a price match, I wouldn't show it till the end as they wont be helpfull if they see you aren't planning to buy from them.

didn't even acknoledge your questions about the tele.

I love mine, I use it with my delay pedals, and my wah, and can do some great solo clean sounds. As far as versitility it's less than a strat, but strats have that louder driven sound. The tele is cleaner and sharper.

Listen to coldplay, they play teles

a lot of radiohead, the Doves, It sounds great when I play a clean lead, or take it into overdrive with a delay pedal. The fact that its hardtailed gives it +5 sustain compared to any strat, and that same fullness you get from a gibson or a hollowbody.

still more versitle than a gibson, or a hollowbody, slightly less than a strat. but if you already have a strat you can frankenstien it for your life to improve it, and get a decent tele to have your two different sounds

What's wrong with that? Also, how much does a decent wah peddal cost? I want to buy one but I don't know if it's compatible with my standard fender amp..any help would be great! Thanks.

Cool I looked into the trad-in also, it just happened to be cheaper to buy online, and I got to keep my old guitar too.

Get a Jackson or Ibanez! Fenders are great but not the $300 ones.
