So my sister's shuffle got stuck in a USB port and to make a long story short, its now has a torn USB ribbon. I've been looking around to see if anyone has tried repairing it and was wondering if anyone here has given it a shot. It still plays the 100 songs on it fine, just new ones can't be added to it. Let me know if you have tried this or know of anyone that has.

Don't know. She gave it to me for nothing, so If I can fix it for $20 then yeah its worth it.

Maybe if you could post a pic of the torn part, we can help you.

If it's simple (straight tracks) you can make one.

It's this but the ribbon is torn. I don't have a picture of the actual one yet because she just mailed it to me at school.

The apple store said this wasn't covered by the warranty. I guess it goes by the logic if you drop and shatter a brand new ipod they arent going to fix it because its more then "normal wear and tear"

sounds to me ur almost outta luck buddy, but a shuffle isnt hard to complete on a site, so i say quit worrying and get to work on one.

i bet u can even sell the used one on ebay, people love buyin broken stuff to fix. make some money off it

hehehhehe

I'd give you some cash for it.

go to the apple store and ask, they have never turned me down
don't tell them you ripped it off, say it just game out when you pulled it out

I've already done the freepay shuffle, but yeah I am most likely just going to mess around with it myself and see what I can do, altough I may try the apple store myself.

4 usb leads = 4 metal strips....

could you sand the severed ends down to the wire and then solder them together? Im not quite sure how the ribbon is constructed, but thats what id try first...
