What did you guys think of the SAT? I felt it wasn't too bad. Seemed easier to me than the PSAT I took.

I took the SATs yesterday too.
Wasn't too bad, I had to guess on some of the math, because I am still terrible at geometry even though I took it 3 years ago. It was just a long fucking test, I felt it was easier than the PSAT too.
They really should make it into 2 different sessions.

I didn't do that great on the PSAT, like 74th percentile and a score of 166 (about 1660 on SATs). I took the SATs a lot more seriously than the PSATs though.

Exactly the same here. I pretty muched fucked up the PSAT. My town had a huge flood and i arrived 5 minutes late. It was a miracle that I even got through it.
I am also terrible in geometry. I didn't finish 4 geometry problems. I wonder how many you can skip and omit before it actually hurts your score.

You add a 0 to the end, so 1870 Shamash.

i think i did pretty good..i felt a lot more confident then when i took em last year...and i'm guessing i got over a 2000....if so that'd be TIGHT! lol
i wizzed by on the math...like they were all piece of cake...but i tend to not do so good on the english...so hopefully i got a better score than last year

someone who didnt sign up for the testing soon enough and comes to the testing site on the day of the test, hoping that there are empty spots.

Ah, I see.
Anyone know what the deal is with act.org? I went there to sign up for the ACT and it says to say where you want your scores mailed to, but my high school isn't listed.

I took the PSAT a few years ago (2003 and 2004), never took the SAT though. once I found out my college didnt require it, I said the hell with it lol.

it's still a good idea if your college requires it or not...gives them an idea of where you stand
tracemhunter
30-01-2006 09:02:08
where you stand? that test does not measure your academic ability. it tells you if you know how to take a test.
crazyates
30-01-2006 09:06:21
no...but it does show how smart you are to a certain extent. someone who got a 1940 and someone else who got a 1950 are gonna be pretty close...
it may tell you how to take a test..but colleges are much more likely to accept you w/ a SAT of 2200 than a 1200...regardless of whether the "require" it or not

Its all bullshit to me. I go to a fashion school,
FIDM[=http//fidm.edu/]FIDM during my entire application/acceptance process those three letters (SAT) were never even mentioned. I think the test is stupid, how does a test reflect your intelligence?

Just got scores posted online.
I got 640 on critical reading, 620 on math, 620 on writing, total of 1880. That would have been about 1250 on the old SATs out of 1600.

People bash on the SAT, but do you have a better idea for a standard test? the reason the SAT matters so much is that all schools are different, and a lot of private's tend to inflate grades while public schools don't, so they need a level playing field to rank everyone. That is why HS Rank and SAT together are more important than GPA.

Most Midwest schools require the ACT instead of the SAT, because they feel it's a better test. Comes down to a matter of preference on the schools' parts, I suppose.
