I think you mean your provisional. You automatically get your permit when your 15 1/2 or something. Then you have to get 50 hrs., etc. I don't remember it's been a while, and it's different in every state.

in NH...you get to drive BEFORE you get your permit or any type of driver's ed or anything like that. you drive when you're 15 1/2...go through driver's ed when you're 16...and get your liscence as soon as you're done with drivers ed and have 20 hours of driving logged...

i think here you sign up for drivers ed and do 20 hours in the classroom and 20 hours driving. you have to have your permit for 6 months even if you get it when you are 17.
ny is alot different
once u turn 16 u are allow to get ur permit
u can go for ur license exam at any time after that if u have 20 hour logged and the 5 hour class done.
but to go successfully into a junior license once u have 6 months from the permit if not u get ur limited junior whichb is really a permit.
if u take drivers ed u get ur seniors ( no restrictions) once ur 17 if not then only when ur 18.
in the city its a different ball game.
u can only begin driving when ur 18

In Idaho, the age to get a license is 14. Unless they've changed it in the last 20 years.

18 is not the age.. When I turned 18, it was really no big deal.. I could buy smokes without ID before. The only thing good about being 18 is being allowed to vote (got to vote for Bush in the 2004 elections), and buy firearms.
21 is really the only major steppingstone.. cause after that; its all down hill lol

18 wasnt a big deal. i went to a porn shop in mid-day and it was packed! so many weird people in there. i will never go back. this one old guy had a stack of dvds up to his chin with some anal beads dangling off the top. i couldnt help but chuckle.
