well i never really decided to listen to them until today..
oddly enough I subscribe to this mac podcast (MacTV i believe it's called)
and they had this episode of the new Macintel ad, with a side-by-side of the postal service's such great heights music video.
They were showing how both videos were extremely similar, because it had the same director. So I was like, woah, i wanna check this out, and so freaking i watched the video and i was like WTF. this sounds like Death Cab..

I love the postal service. here's a lesser-known EP of theirs called Such Great Heights - it's got a pair of covers (the shins and iron and wine) and my favorite track, "There's Never Enough Time".

The band is pretty upset that the director didn't notify the band of his intention to essentially commercialize the video by remaking it as an Apple ad though...

Apple did jack it. I know they used the same director but it doesn't change the fact they stole it. I think the commercial kinda sucks anyways, the music video is much better...

Look. I don't know what herbal remedies you folks are on, but around here it takes the postal service far too long to deliver anything and their so called 'package tracking' is god awful. If it's important just use UPS/FedEx/DHL.

you got that right. freaking takes forever.
speaking of postal service. how long does it take a package to get to the U.S. from the u.k.??
The fun part is that there was a time when the USPS was offering the Postal Service's CD in store. O

In addition to traditional retail outlets, "Give Up" can now be purchased via the Web site of the United States Postal Service (USPS). A licensing deal between the parties was struck after the government agency sent a cease-and-desist letter to Sub Pop. The band was allowed to keep its name if it agreed to promote the USPS, and last week performed at the Postmaster General's national executive conference in Washington, D.C.[/quote343eb17bc8]
However, I saw it in store.

the postal service was sold in stores and played at a convention on grounds that they would not get sued for using the name "postal service"

Such Great Heights is their most popular song, but this EP is kinda like a large single. The album that Such Great Heights is on is called Give Up.
Great band, I'm waiting for their next album, I hope they are planning on it. So much better than Deathcab.

ok just so you kids know
give up is postal service's ONLY full length
they have some toher stuff not on give up though, they will be releasing a new album this year (from ben gibbard)
The postal service is 2 guys with other people for specific songs.
it was esentially ben gibbard of DCFC and DNTEL the dj
it was mad through them sending stuff back and forth with more aditions throught the postal service-thus the name.
2005 was ben's year with DCFC and 2006 is supposed to be a postal service year.
When i get the demo i'll be sure to let you guys here know.
