There is that...but camcorder A/V cables work as well however the cheapest I can find is at radioshack for 16$. Does anyone know some good deals as this cord SHOULD only be 5$ or so.

Also if anyone has tried this how well does it work?

Well I found that, relatively cheap and all....unless somone can mention a local store I might order that however I'm wondering how well the video is once it reaches the tv. Is the resampling good, anyone ever done this before and would this particular cable work.

Camcorder AV cables DO work. But you have to switch the colors around (yea they did this to make you think you need their special ones). Plug the red RCA into the TV's yellow jack, the yellow RCA into the TV's white jack, and the white RCA into the TV's red jack. That should do the trick wink.

You must have a bad cable. I have been using a standard cable for a while now and it works fine.

how's the video quality from an iPod to a tv...i'd imagine that if it's being blown up the image would be terrible

xztiger

some look bad but some look good, depends on where you get the video from, if you did it through the converter it looks just like a DVD if you used something of limewire or something already on the web it can look bad

crazyates

20-01-2006 08:27:43

but arn't the file sizes compressed to only fit the 2 1/2 inch screen? if so, then blowing it up to even like a 20" screen would look pretty bad. am i right on this?

it also depends on how you convert it. The ipod will resample the dvd smaller...but technically you can have a 1gb full dvd appearance video carried on your ipod and then when its transmitted to the tv it will look perfect. The picture otherwise really doesnt look bad though.

Is this the cable that you need to use to plug in the iPod to the TV?

^^^ Actually, that cable may work, but the video cable for the iPod is a bit different.

Check out this link for a cheaper solution

But there is a big difference between the TV's resolution and a PC's/iPod's resolution. Typical DVD movies have 720x480 playback resolution while iPod video resolution is 320x240 so I guess you can say that the iPod video ouput will look roughly 1/2 the quality of a DVD.

it still looks decent enough though

well i finally got my cable. I would suggest using nero recode 2 to convert your movies, pq dvd if you want dvds from a disc. You can actually make it so videos will play really well on tv if you have your settings to around 640 width and whatever height<480. If you increase your video quality to around 1mb/s the movie will look pretty damn good.

the downside is that file sizes are 700mb+ for good quality movies.
