I was on macrumors.com, and watching the updates and they didn't announce new ibooks, just the macbook pro in place of powerbooks.

steve jobs said every mac will have switched to intel by the end of the year.

Oh okay, cool.

That's kinda gay because the old mac architect was the reason why people loved mac. Especially for artists and designers because the machine ran alot smoother than intel architecture. Now it's just going to be as crap as any other computer.

Thank god. That means IRC's iBook will still be worth $1000.

I really hope FreePay isn't planning on waiting that long for the prices to drop.

you think intel is crap??? obviously steve jobs was able to overlook that when he dumped the power pc ...

Cheaper powerbooks er, MacBooks mean cheaper ibooks down the line. But what a sweet new laptop.

Uhh, that has NOTHING to do with the ibm chips vs. intel chips. The only difference now is that its about 5 times faster

They look like they will be pretty sweet, 5X FASTER! I can't wait for the 12" PB to come out... I am deff. getting one, i'd assume they won't wait too long to do the ibooks... everyone knows its comming and is ready, i give them less than 2.5 months and it'll be out... anyone got a different opinion?

Anyways, i hope they get the 12" PB and the Ibooks out... not sure which I'll get, 500 extra for the PB, if the Ibook is already 5X faster, i'll probably just go with it...

I'm really disappointed about no new mac minis or shuffles. Didn't they just come out with newer versions of the imac and powerbook?

So whats going to be the next Apple update?

ilanbg

I'm really disappointed at the lack of iPod shuffle. I wanted to get one for working out and such, but the ones that exist now are shit.

What about a nano?

Wolfeman

11-01-2006 00:46:40

I think the nano kinda replaced the shuffle. I don't see them updating it...

hehehhehe

11-01-2006 00:54:15

I think they will update it. They need to have a player for the lower price points and there's certainly a lot of demand for it. Remember how they went out of stock last month?

Wolfeman

11-01-2006 00:58:25

They might have gone out of stock because they stopped making so many. I just don't see them investing in another flash based MP3 player when the nano is there. I'd think they'd make a cheaper nano before an upgraded shuffle.

I mean upgrading the shuffle is just adding a screen and then its just a nano that you can't pick which song you want...

hehehhehe

11-01-2006 01:15:52

Yeah, when nanos came out I figured they'd phase it out but I think they'll at least keep it (not necessarily update it) since they need to have a $99 player in the market. I'd love to see a $150 nano.

Wolfeman

[quote3e2eec1617="hehehhehe"]I'd love to see a $150 nano.[/quote3e2eec1617]

Thats probably more likely than another shuffle which is fine by me )

hehehhehe

11-01-2006 01:27:01

My guess -

$99 (possibly smaller) 512MB Shuffle
$150 1GB Nano

We'll see what happens...

mlwitchking

11-01-2006 07:16:29

i think they will keep the 2 gb nano when they increase the capacity, but they will drop the price. also, smaller nanos are a possibility, because it is just cheaper for apple to put in a smaller flash drive ...

Sheesh, already the rumors about the next update.

The nano is too big. In fact, the shuffle is too big as well. I'm waiting for it to get small enough that I can wear it on any of the limbs I want while I go rock climbing.

Any smaller and the nano will snap while trying to turn it on.

Back to the iBooks, i'm pretty angry that they aren't going to be updated right away. i turned in my new ibook from IRC for store credit at the Apple Store in the hopes that a new one would be coming out Jan. 10. Now all i know is they'll be updated within a year and i don't know if the wait will be worth it. Any suggestions?

My limbs are fine; I rock climb, I'm mildly built.
But I still want something that's nonintrusive. I know these things are small, but I want something I can strap directly to my neck comfortably or something. Shuffles are small, but I was hoping for something half the size.

I've seen it, it's not bad. I don't want to wear anything around my neck, for I'd surely lose it.

Get another iBook from another site and use the combined store credit to get a MacBook.
Or put $300 of your own money and get an iMac.

Or just be patient, I guess. You know they'll change the iBook line somehow, and you've got a lot of cash there, so do with it what you will.

They announced cheaper shuffles ($69/$99 for 512M/1GB) and a 1GB Nano at $150. At least I was half right.

EatChex89

they announced intel ibooks as well.. which aren't supposed to role out until march, and full-production won't be until april.

Wolfeman

1GB Nano for $150 = $150.00/GB
4GB Nano for $250 = $62.50/GB

30GB video for $300 = $10.00/GB
60GB video for $400 = $ 6.67/GB

I think they needed a 1GB player with a display at the $120-$150 range (like Sony and the others).

I know they did need a 1GB player w/ display and its tight the Shuffle is cheaper...

the rumored intel ibooks are going to be sweet. I've always loved the form factor of the 12-inch ibook, and now they're supposed to get thinner with a widescreen display. Nice. I just sold my oooold 400mhz Powerbook because I had no need for it anymore, but tech lust might take over and force me to buy one!

they're most likely making them 13.3inch books

yes, a nice size to replace the current 12 and way-too-big 14-inch models. They just better give it a decent resolution. the 1024x768 is just not good enough even on the 12.
