For the Nintendo DS it seems like it does not run at full rate, so it is not worth it at least for me. But yeah you can download roms onto a flash stick and play them through the contraption.

You have to buy something called like a flash linker, you dl the roms. You use the program with it to flash the roms to the flash linker. On the older gameboys you had to by cartridges specifically for it you could not use SD. You use programs with the linker to flash it like I already said.
Read the manual, that is about as much as I know about them.

my friend has one for his DS, fits alot of games on it, surprisingly. However, he got it from china so i have no idea P
