Just helped my mom buy an ibook which is my first experience with OS X... so when importing all her document files, will I need find her a copy of Office for mac to use them or is there built in software or other software that can handle .docurl==http://=http:///url files.

There is built in software but it sucks and it might not format the documents the way they were originally formated.

Well, she doesn't do any huge word processing anyways, just wanted to make sure she could open all her files. Thanks!

Yeah, she could open them. She might have to apple+click on it and choose that she wants to open them using the program (it's called apple works or something like that) or else it will try to open in word which she doesn't have.

Just pirate Word for her. It's better on Mac than on PC anyway.

she can get office 2004 or she can download OpenOffice.org (free)
i use both but i tend to forget about openoffice.

i might see how much she really needs it before i pirate it for her. i have office for mac on my hd but i don't really want to mess with converting the dmg to an iso if i don't have to.

if you have the dmg, just put it on her laptop and install it.
osx does everything for you!
