Upgrading RAM/HD on laptops.

I'm STV on my Acer Aspire 3003LCi from Freepay, and want to buy an 80G hd and 512/1gig RAM for it.
What kind of HD/RAM does a laptop need? Can I install it on my own or do I need to bring it in somewhere.. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, does anyone know the battery life on it, and how much it would cost to upgrade the battery?

I beleive you need a 2.5in hard drive and SO-Dimm Memory.
I know that you can install the ram yourself, but the hard drive may be a bit harder to get to, at least on my laptop.
Not sure about battery life, but new ones are around $70-100 I think. shrug

I've heard of 4cells giving a 3 hour charge. Why would it only give hour? And my brother has a 9cell or 12cell or something which gives him 6 hours.. why would that only give 3 on this one?

Here is the ram for the laptop. I don't know if it is cheap or not. http//www.memoryx.net/acas30wlnome.html

How much do you want to spend on a hard drive? They are $100+ for the sizes you want. The drives here should fit, just change the Capacity to what you want. Also, set the for factor to 2.5. I'll get more links if you want. http//www.newegg.com/ProductSort/SubCategory.asp?SubCategory=380

some laptops have easy access to the HDD, some don't. newer laptops should be easier, but check it out when you get it. i have a dell 6000, and there are two screws then the hard drive just slides out of the side.

You have to buy them and find out. Trial and error.
I'm guessing it's between 1.5 hours and 3 hours.
