I picked up the Bose TriPort Headphones the other day. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from Bose in their headphones department since I knew close to nothing about it. I have been looking for a good pair for some time now, and figured I’d shell out the extra cash ($150) to pick up something from a reputable company. When I got them home, I was blown away by the clarity and comfort of these headphones. They do not rest on your ears; they completely surround your ears leaving your ears free. The headphones are 5 ounces, making them incredibly light, but on the down side, also making them brittle. I wore them for at least 6 hours last night at my desk and never once had to adjust or move them. You might have heard of the Bose Quiet Comfort, which block out all surrounding noise. We’ll, for a hefty $300 price tag I wouldn’t recommend them. From what I’ve read they give close to the same experience and actually perform worse in quieter areas (home, work) because they overcompensate for loud noises, which creates a low electric hum when the music is low or off. The TriPort headphones come with a small bag and a 5-foot extension cable (even though the cable is very long). Also comes with a ¼” stereo adapter. I noticed things in songs that I have never heard before, for example, the beginning of Closer by NIN. These have no problem hitting great highs and lows. I sifted through my music library last night, playing songs that illustrated exaggerated deep bass or screeching treble, all which the TriPorts handled perfectly. My favorite thing about these headphones is that they are smaller than most headphones of this class; they are comfortable, and they deliver sound quality that I have yet to experience from any other set. Other than the fact that you will need to be careful when handling these headphones, they are close to perfect.

Watch out, people on here are like "BOSE SUCKS!!!!!!1".

I've got Bose Acoustimass-II speakers in my room and I love them, they sound great and have a ton of power for how small they are.

"which creates a low electric hum when the music is low or off"

What you are hearing is static, you should not hear it. Shield the wires inside your computer to make sure it is not picking it up from there.

Boise is overpriced, that is why they sux.

You get what you pay for with Bose, which is a good, quality product.

I'm not talking about the Triport. I'm talking about the Quiet Comforts, i didn't purchase those. Plus, the hum is a common problem in the QCs.

Hehehe. Good quality product? Are you insane? There is reason why Bose has never recieved a THX certification. There is a reason why consumer reports got sued by Bose when they said they had bad sound quality, and now they only review on appereance of Bose products. There is reason that any professional audio forums do not talk about any Bose products.

I've always wanted something like those instead of my lame iPod earbuds.

I have those headphones. My biggest qualm is that the bass is a bit muddy and weak. Other than that, they're pretty good, but the lack of bass has bothered me for quite a while.

I accidently stepped on them in the middle of the night and broke them for a second time, so now I get to buy some better headphones.

BOSE does suck in terms of bang per buck. Go to AVS forum where people generally are more knowledgeable about a/v than those here and see what they say. When you pay the BOSE markup, you are paying their marketing expenses. Did you think THEY were eating those costs? Common sense guys... You don't get what you pay for, unless you're talking about the high you feel after unknowingly having overspent on speakers.

Try to find a store setup where they let you directly compare Bose with other setups. The ones in most stores are so fixed, I could also mix you two audio tracks where one sounds much better and tell you that's the Bose difference.

As for acoustimass, those small satellites don't have to supply much power. The bulk of the power comes from the sub, just so you know...

You do have to respect their business model since it works, but it might be getting less effective as they are bringing their prices down.
