So i got a new alpine headunit with a alpine ipod interface about a month ago. Today i took the ipod interface back and replaced it with a straight aux input because i hated the way the alpine ipod interface worked it fucking sucks. Now i control my music through my ipod without any problems and i just have a nice little monster cable coming out under my cd player ill try to take pics later. anyways i need this http//www.compuplus.com/i-CTA-I-CRUISE-iPod-MP3-Wireless-Car-Kit-IP-UWK-1005700~refer-froogle.html but i dont want it to have that built in itrip thing all i want is for it to plug in my ipod into the dock and have it charge. Does anyone know where to get one like this? ive been searching but all i seem to find are things like this.

You know, I've heard that the iPod interface is crap. It's sluggish and doesn't work like the iPod should work. I'll be in your same boat in a few months trying to figure it out for myself.

Ill give you an example i have about 3000 songs with somewhere around 300 artists. you can only search by artist, album, and playlist which sounds ok but really it takes years to get to an artist. Say you wanna get to a artist that begins with M it will take like 2-3min to get there as opposed to like 2 seconds with your ipod. Plus if your in a playlist you cannot just go to a specific song easily it is just not user friendly at all. The only good thing about it was that it displayed the names, charged the iPod, and had good quality. Now i have good quality with a lot less headache and it makes me much happier.

I'll never revert back to an FM transmitter, I can tell you that. I ended up going with a cassette adaptor to get away from the FM transmitters. Halfway populated area + small FM transmitter = throwing FM transmitter away. It is a quest for better sound and I'm sure the direct aux in will be plenty good for me.

yeah i had a itrip which actually worked really well for me but the direct aux input is really great quality i would definitly go that route

Blitzsafe sells RCA combo chargers/Ipod adapters for about $65 or so - they're just like the AUX cable but plug into the charging port. Pretty slick.

Also, related question. I tried to use an older Tape adapter (from a CD player) on my Ipod in a car with a Tape deck the other day and only go very low playback sound (and terrible quality). Anyone have an idea why that is? Do I really need to buy a Belkin tape adapter?

I used a cheap cassate adapter I bought for 9.99$ at my local fry's and as long as I keep the audio on the iPod about 50%-60% and no higher the quality is fine. If I go higher though it starts sounding like shit so I just use my cassate volume control and that works perfectly.

Exactly what I do. I put my iPod at about 30% volume and then turn the cassete volume up to compensate, and it helps [ie64e993233]a lot[/ie64e993233].

Do you guys use iPod cassette adapters or one that came with a CD player? I tend to think there might be a difference in the iPod versus CD cassette adapters (but have no real rationale for that)

i've been using the ipod in my car with a cassette adapter for a while and it works fine. The problem is, if i keep putting the audio plug in and out of the ipod daily, one of these days, it might get real loose or it might damage it wouldn't it?

I'm thinking of getting a dock or FM transmitter (the ones that connect to the bottom) that works well. Any suggestions of a brand? The fm transmitter i got from axshop was horrible, i have to turn volume on ipod to 100% and crank my stereo all the way up to hear it.............

i'm using an iPod Video btw.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for searching +Karma.

FM transmitters are always going to be crap, unless you live somewhere where there are a ton of empty radio stations. For the money, the cassette adapter is your best bet. And I don't think there is any problem with taking the miniRCA plug in and out of the ipod everyday, at least in my experience.

i also have a mbus adapter on my pioneer head unit, but when I plug the mini jack into my ipod I loose all of my bass, does that rca cable adapter thing need to be powered? Like this CD-RB20 adapter from Pioneer http//cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-AUXILIARY-INPUT-ADAPTOR-NEW-CD-RB20-CDRB20_W0QQitemZ5865549790QQcategoryZ60208QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem[]http//cgi.ebay.com/PIONEER-AUXILIARY-INPUT-ADAPTOR-NEW-CD-RB20-CDRB20_W0QQitemZ5865549790QQcategoryZ60208QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I live in Miami and my FM transmitter works great roll ...the monster FM that plugs into the bottom, and also charges your iPod from the 12V.

Ewww an ipod in a car. Ipod a cool thing but I only use it for excercising and long distance traveling( flying).

A little bit more expensive alternative but with much more expandability is to build a car pc.

For less than $1000 you can build a pc that has

100-- 200 g of HDspace
Watch dvds and play mp3s
touchscreen monitor
GPS
PhoneControl - through car speakers
Visualations
Internet
Satelite radio
wakes from hibernation when you turn the ignition and goes into sleep/hibernate when you take keys out
working on expanding rfid or finger print technology to automate/emulate unlocking doors/ starting car
and just about anything possible through a pc
