Disabling EVERYTHING On Startup

[bb0018c1c2d]Mod edit[/bb0018c1c2d] This is really bad advice. Don't do this.
How many of you start your computer, press ALT CNTRL DELETE, and then select the apps tha tarent used like ctffmon.exe, rundll.exe, and all that junk?
Well, Some of you may know this, but for the others, there is a way to stop. For those of you who don't do anything on startup, this may help run your computer faster.
Go to start>run and type msconfig
A window will pop up, go to the setup tab (last one) and select "Disable All".
Aside from a few notes that will pop up letting you know there are some things that can not be disabled (dont worry, it will set it back by default), now... everytime you turn on your computer, you are not running any unwanted applications -D
+karma if this helped.

Hunting for karma are we? I'd -karma if I could...if someone doesn't know how to do this on their own..."Disable All" might not be a healthy recommendation.
Computer noobs toying with things they shouldn't be toying with = more problems than they started with

[quotea71a29ff0f="twist"]i did it but it never said "some things cant be disabled" it just said i needed to restart[/quotea71a29ff0f]
Click on [ba71a29ff0f]GENERAL TAB[/ba71a29ff0f] and then select [ba71a29ff0f]NORMAL STARTUP[/ba71a29ff0f]
Do NOT [ba71a29ff0f]disable ALL[/ba71a29ff0f] and the restart, Windows may NOT be able to load again (and you will have to do other stuff)

If you disable everything, that will probably include the antivirus software you have, which is a very bad idea. You should read all of what you are disabling before you acctually do it.

Vector's karma plot has backfired....
lol
This is actually a useful tool, but like others said, be sure that you don't disable all because there are components that you need on start up for your computer.

exactly. [be315305cb0]antivirus[/be315305cb0] can be enabled once you are on windows (so, it doesn't really matter) BUT if you disabled everything then windows will not be able to start up

yea thats a stupid recommendation.
i occasionally drop in, and see who is visiting my startup.. i'll ask some to leave, while i'll cordially invite the others to stay with my machine a little longer

this must be the stupidest recommendation.... in a while. rather get Spybot S&D and enable the startup protection, this way u'll be prompted every time something is added or removed from the startup list.

+Karma Archon - I have Ad-Aware SE, but I am def. going to add S&D to my machine because of that!

Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D have been the best combo for I don't remember how long...
I have Scan Spyware, too, but I only use that if I have something Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D are having trouble with (Surf Sidekick, etc.)

You should really stop thinking about me so much. You even got the usernames incorrect.

This is a bad idea. I'd suggest not messing with things you don't understand. Some things can be disabled but if you don't know what you are doing just leave it alone...

Enable S&D Teatimer.

Tea timer gets annoying. I just know what I'm installing and never use IE unless I'm doing offers...
