So I'm pretty much done with a site for a Powerbook, and now I'm hearing something about Intel and Apple? What are they going to do? Will the Powerbook be outdated when I get it?

the powerbooks won't be released for a while
their will be a new mac mini that will be more media center oriented
it is rumored to get the new yonah processor from intel
the new ibooks will be released with an intel processor, possibly a widescreen and it will be smaller.
also it will be slower than the current ibooks
it will also be ~$200 cheaper
/researched speculation.

So the new Intels aren't going to be as good as the Powerbooks?

apple just redid the powerbooks a couple of months ago (a minor one at that) and they typically go in order. the one that hasn't been updated the longest gets the upgrade. the mac mini or ibook should be next. followed by the imac, then the powerbook and powermac.

Hmmm....
Yeah I'm just feeling that when I finally get this Powerbook, I'm gonna be all outdated. (

Quick question, not trying to hijack
Are iBooks going to be updated in January? I'm still in approval for laptops.freepay and I'd like to know if I should wait until the new iBooks come out or just take the iBook now.

the ibooks havent been updated in awhile so it could be best to wait. but then again, it took freepay a long time to update the mac minis.

What kind of processor is the Powerbook right now?
tracemhunter
29-12-2005 12:26:20
1.67ghz PowerPC G4
a common mistake is that people compare the numbers to intel and amd. same way with amd and intel (ex 3500+ is 2.2ghz but is faster than a p4 2.8ghz)

Yeah, I'm not gonna worry about it right now. By the time I get the Powerbook, it will probably be the new Intel kind. Bigwin takes forever.
If not, I'll just request a check from them and buy the new kind.

imac just got an update though, they added the built in camera and remote.
i'd be interested in seeing a widescreen ibook, but i'm assuming they won't do that with the 12" screen or it would make it ultra small for most purposes.
i do agree that they will price cut the ibook though, they want to compete with all these 600 windows laptops.

the new ibooks will be released late january but the current ibooks are more powerful but bigger
about a pound heavier.
the mac minis will be released at the same time and speaking of not being updated wheres the emac been?
if you get a sealed ibook i bet you could return it to apple and get the new one.

I'll be ending up with a sealed Powerbook. I hope they don't take down the power on the powerbook.
