What's worse than going to get your wisdom teeth removed?

Going to get them removed twice. x

Yep... I went to go get my wisdom teeth removed this morning and so they got me all ready with the IV needles and they drugged me up, and I couldn't stand it. I've been under anesthesia before, but I just couldn't keep still and it wasn't calming me down.

I was all ready for this and everything. I wanted to get it over with and I was all calm about it when I got in and I wasn't really nervous at all. But when they gave me the anesthesia, it didn't calm me down and my body didn't give up enough consciousness so they didn't want to do the operation. They thought that I might jerk too much or something and the doctor might cut me badly.

I was all drowsy and I thought they did it because everything was all numb, so I was like, "Are they out now?" And they told me no and I got kind of mad and I said why not and all. They tell me I need to do it at a hospital when I'm completely knocked out from the stuff. So then the stuff made me feel like throwing up and I had a hard time breathing. So they helped me up and I was all drowsy and my body was trying to throw up and all. And they put me in a wheelchair and it sucked.

The doctor told my mom who drove me over and was gonna take me back (because I wouldn't have been able to drive back all drugged up) that she shouldn't worry about me taking drugs because I hate being drowsy and I hate that feeling.

What a day.... And now I have to go and do it all over again. cry

i got my wisdom teeth out in august and it wasn't bad at all. the dentist froze my arm, stuck the needle in, and told me to enjoy lala land. next thing i know i wake up and go lay in bed for a few hours. got up after three hours of sleep perfectly fine and went to the apple store and got my powerbook.

Thanks man. Returned. ;)

I still feel really sick from that stuff. It's [i42190d6612]SO[/i42190d6612] messed up when you're trying to communicate with them. When they told me they didn't even remove the teeth I just felt sick to myself. I kept telling them how pissed I was and all and they just kept telling me to stop panicking and everything was alright. They told me something about a hospital while I was under that stuff, so I was thinking to myself, "They're sending me to a hospital now?!?!? LET IT END! I HATE THIS!"

Yep, that really sucked. And I've been under amnesia before. It always makes me feel like I died or something. It's really weird.

I got my wisdom teeth pulled a while back.

Only bottom 2 since my top ones never developed, but they might, since I'm only 17.

The bottom 2 were impacted though, so it made the surgery harder.

Good luck with it, I know I was really upset before the surgery.

sweet, thanks for the karma! lol

how old are u, cuz i'm 17 and havn't had them out yet, but i'm not sure if i'm gonna have to. My dad still has his in, and they dont bother him a bit. My mom on the other hand had the worst experience possibe. infections--multipe visits--and wisdom teeth growing at a 90 angle directly into her gum. not fun. so if i do have to have them taken out, it'll prob be not good. lol

Try gettin a wart lasered off. they stick this needle right into where it is and it could be ANYWHERE then the doc takes this funky pen and shoots your wart off but and the amnesia only prevents major pain and it gets really hot.

27-12-2005 15:35:07

My wisdom teeth basically grew over my 12 year molars, so when I got them pulled in October 2004 they had to tear away a ton of gum tissue.

I've got pictures of my face after surgery, anyone interested?

J4320

27-12-2005 15:35:56

I wasn't too upset before it. I was told that I would just be knocked out for a while and I would wake up kind of drowsy with no wisdom teeth.

It turned out to be a 60 minute conversation with the doctor and the nurse while I was drugged up, drowsy, in a lot of pain, having a hard time breathing, not being able to feel my face because it was all numb from the novocaine, feeling like I was dead, and having my body try to throw up but just hurling out nothing.

My face felt so messed up. I could hardly feel it and I was moving my tongue all over trying to feel around and I talked like a retarded person because my entire mouth was numb. I was a little crazy from being all drugged up. I told the doctors that I felt like a retarded person and they just laughed. I told them to shut up and I told them that it wasn't funny.

I can top that.

Until I was 17, I was really lucky. Never hospitalized, and the most sick I'd ever been was a bout with bronchitis. But, finally, I managed to completely destroy a ligament in my right rotator cuff. The doc said surgery was pretty much the only option. Fine, I'm not scared of drugs or knives, I've dealt with worse.

I go in, my GP is assisting the surgery so I'm feeling pretty confident. Its a little bit nerve wracking, sure, but not a huge deal.

They wheel me in and put the mask on. It was like a light switch - one instant I was flicking my eyes around the operating room and the next I was staring at a whole new ceiling. Weird.

The next thing that hit was the pain. My entire body felt like it was being blasted by a million blowtorches. I was convulsing and screaming in pain. Turns out I have a massive allergy to the narcotic Demerol, which was among the cocktail of drugs they gave me to keep me knocked out while they sliced up my arm.

I don't know how long I was lying there screaming, but it seemed like at least two hours at the time. Now, I'd say it was about 15 minutes. I begged the nurse to knock me out or give me something for the pain, and she just said "if I give you morphine now you'll stop breathing" so I asked her for some anyway. I found out later that my entire body was broken out in hives.

Finally, she says "it's going to be okay" and hits me with 15mg of chemical bliss. Let me tell you, I have never felt better than when I was dosed out on morphine. That shit's amazing. You don't even notice time passing. So anyway I got home and started the getting better process. I even developed a chemical dependency on hydrocodone after!!

I went in twice to get my wisdom teeth out. Once for my bottom two and the 2nd time when my top two had come in.. but they only gave me anesthetic shots in my gums.. I was conscious but coudln't feel a thing.. so it wasn't bad.
Actually, I think getting the IV needle in (from when I got my tonsils removed) sticks out in my mind as having been a more painful experience.

They can continue to come in through your 20's and even into your 30's. The problem is that it takes so long. They often lose their mojo, and can stop halfway, causing abcesses. (

Some of my wisdoms are in, some haven't come out, and some are halfway.

It's like a fliliking high school in my mouth....

i just got my wisdom teeth out yesterday morning

And after i got the surgery

i went to sleep for 95% of the rest of the day until this morning

And it kinda hurts. But my parnets keep hooking me up w/ some painkillers

Before the surgeyr wasn't an issue for me.

During the consultation, the doctor gave me a valium to take an hour before the surgery.

And then during the surgery, the anasthesalogist hit me up w/ some shit and i was OUT.

Got my teeth out on my 23rd birthday - I was completely under woke up and everything was fine - didnt hurt and only one tooth was impacted. LOL I still have my teeth from it, I want to make a tooth necklace. When I was a child I had two sets of eye teeth and had them as adults, I had to have one set removed (I seriously looked like a vampire in some pictures, it was funny) so I got braces to push all the teeth together.

I'm too scared to go get them pulled. It's not the pain of it, it's the stuff they put me on.

I can't stand any kind of local or general anesthesia - I go crazy and I get sick. This is what happens -

I never get relaxed when I'm put on it. I act retarded and I ask everyone wtf they're doing to me. My head gets dizzy and my stomach gets nauseous. I am convinced that I have died and I am making my way to the afterlife. I go crazy.

This isn't normal is it?

Well heres how it went for me.

During our consultation, the doctor gave me some valium to take an hour prior to the surgery, so i would be feelin retarded during surgery time.

Well anyways, he walked me in the OR, took off my jacket, laid me down. The anasthesiologist told me i was gonna feel a pinch, i felt the pinch. About 10 seconds later I was out, and the next thing i remember was waking up at home.

I have now developed my monkey cheeks.

I had my top two removed years ago. I still have the bottom two. One of the ones that was removed had a really bad cavity in it. The pain of the cavity was MUCH worse than the removal and any soreness I felt after.

Also, They only shot up my gums with novacaine to numb them up. I had no iv or anything like that.

I got mine removed about two and a half years ago. The dentist told me to take a Valium about an hour before the operation. I went in, sat in the chair, the dental assistant sprayed a cold numbing agent onto my arm, stuck the needle in, and I was out. I woke up feeling drowsy/drunk and needed help getting to the car. When I got home I slept for a few hours. When I woke up I took a couple of Lortab and went shopping. I didn't have any dry sockets ).

Yea I got my wisdom teeth out last year. Top ones were fine, bottom ones were impacted so they sucked. They had to drill those and take them one piece by piece since they were impacted, and of course I woke up during that part... o Later that night I did go home to watch the Cardinals finish off the World Series title though. D Too bad I woulda f'ing BEEN THERE if I wasn't getting the damn teeth out. x Anyway, my bottom teeth blew for the next week or so. I used the gauze and all still, but was a long time before I woke up without blood in my mouth and on my pillow. ( Not sure if it's cause the teeth were impacted that bad, or cause I went to the University to get it done so I'd save $1,000... Probably treated there better than I've ever been before. I probably coulda walked all the way out to the car, but they insisted on getting a wheelchair for me and taking me out. Mine came out this Summer while I was vacationing in Canada.

First things first, my Wisdom teeth were FUBAR. They deteriorated, and I once tried to use a toothpick to hit it and it went in some black hole and hit a nerve. Anyways.

I got it pulled under local anesthetic (I was awake the whole time) they had to numb up the side with the nerve I hit about three extra times because of its sensitivity but it didn't really hurt when they got pulled out. I just kind of made fun of the whole process and was only nervous the day going into it.

Afterwards, it was hard to eat anything other than congee (it's like Asian porridge) and spam. Food would get stuck behind where the stitches were and I'd have to carefully wash them out or so. After about a week or so I moved onto solid foods again (amazingly there was NO swelling up nor pain for me) and the stitches eventually fell out after two weeks.

I grew a bone spicule on my lower right side though (Google that up) it was quite uncomfortable but it eventually came out after two or three weeks and I twisted/pulled it out with no pain.

That's my experience.
