I got a lot of money for Christmas and I want to get a digital camera with it. My mom has this one http//www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7030116&type=product&id=1099394930588
and I was considering getting the same thing since I was playing around with it and it was really nice.
Anyone have anything against/for this model or a better suggestion?

My girlfriend got it for Christmas and its really nice. She got it for 250 at a best buy store. I think I also want it.

I'd say this camera is your best bet in that price range. It takes nice pictures and takes them pretty fast, good battery life, nice sized LCD and it uses SD memory. I have the SD300 and I love it. Its way better than my parents Sony DSC-T1...

I have the Canon A95 and it has most of the same specs (MP, zoom,) but more extra features. But i have used the sd400, and i am jealous of how thin it is. It really is fucking tiny, but still an awesome camera. But what i really like about mine is how i can flip around the LCD so it doesn't get scratched.

I just noticed it was on sale too for 285 and I have $50 GC to bestbuy along with some cash I got. If I order it online through InstantProfitz buyers link, I also make 1% back on my purchase.

My LCD has barely any scratches. It doesn't scratch easy. It is perfect size for your pocket. Smaller than a pack of cigs...

My friend recently finished the freepay camera site and freepay is giving him the new nikon coolpiks

I think it's wifi and like 8 megapixels

don't know how it compares though

Don't get caught in the megapixel thing. An 8MP camera isn't always better than a 5MP camera. Look on http//www.steves-digicams.com/ he has good reviews...

My sister got some 5.0 MP Kodak for Christmas.

It was on sale for $130 at Best Buy on Black Friday, normally $250. I think it's a pretty nice camera.

I just got a new Sony w7 7.2mp with 3x zoom. It's a great camera so far, my only complaint is limited manual use options.

Can't go wrong with a canon though.

kodaks generally are not very good cameras.
they are easy to use, like for stupid people.
the nikon camera with wifi is a great camera, it has a good responce time from focus to shoot.
the canons are also pretty good.
they have a good amount of manual controls and their colors are generally pretty good.

I was browsing some more of BB's digital camera and I found this for $100 more. I might be caught up in the MP enlargement but I think its worth a look.

No way. Don't get so hung up on MP. If you aren't planning on blowing pictures up or taking professional shots, 5MP is plenty. That camera is way more bulky and isn't something you can just throw into your pocket.

All the digital cameras i get are with batteries,i want a rechargable one (((

AND it uses AA batteries! That camera sucks. Don't buy a digital camera unless its got lithium batteries. If you are going to spend more and are hung up on lots of MP get the SD550...

Oh ok, yeah that's working out of my price range, thanks. I'm going with the original posted when I get the $300 from giftcards.

Sony digicams are all show, no go IMO. My next major purchase is going to be a Digital Rebel XT...

Think this is a good price for 1GB SD card. I haven't seen any better ones at slickdeals or any store.

The SD400 is a good little camera. My dad and sister got one for Christmas. Picture quality is fine and it seems to have plenty of features. It's not too small and feels pretty durable.

get the SD430 when it comes out. (similar to SD450) it has a much more modern design (looks better i think) and has wifi, which is always a good thing.

I wouldn't buy a camera unless it used AA batteries. They make AA rechargeable and you can't beat the convenience of buying a pack of AA's when your rechargeables go dead in a foreign country. Don't make it sound like such a bad thing.

Its an awful thing. Being able to pick up AA is the only nice thing but even good rechargeable batteries suck compared to lithium. If you are abroad bring an extra lithium battery if thats a worry but I've been all over the world and never had any issues charging my battery. You spend a butt load on AA batteries and recharagble take a long time to charge and are expensive. I'm telling you from experience, lithium is way better than AA...

Splurge and get the Canon SD500 which bumps you up to a 7.1 Megapixel image. Stay away from the upgraded SD550, however, because although the back screen is physically larger the resolution is actually less than its predecessor resulting in crappier previews. The manual viewfinder on the SD550 is also scrunched to the edge and no new features were added to justify the price increase.
