AIM

I just uninstalled AIM Triton cause it sucked.

I'm looking for a good version of AIM to use. I dont want too old, but I don't want so many ads all over everywhere on every window.

I've heard really mixed reviews of GAIM.



Anyone got a strong opinion?

I love triton, other than that... the ram intensive trillian is good.

I wanted Dead AIM for a long time but don't want to pay- anyone know where i can get it.

Yeah your right I dont like Triton very much either ive had it for a week or two.

DeadAIM is dead. aol bought it so it wont be updated anymore, and only works with a few versions of AIM which suck

I'm pretty sure that you can change it so that it doesn't underline everything. I used to just use regular AIM and MSN but then I tried AIM Triton and although it looked nice, it was far too bloated and slow. I gave Trillian a try and thought it was great.

It's slick and doesn't hog your memory glands like Triton.

Works with latest AIM build and also the Triton builds. I use 5.9.3861 and it works great. I could never get used to Gaim or Trillian, the old version of AIM just works so well.

I use the newest version of AIM that is still compatible with my DeadAIM. Works like a charm. It removed my ad's and lets me cutomize stuff. I don't expect it to perform miracles or look "pretty." I use AIM to chat, not to improve the look of my desktop.

It's skinnable. And you change the underlining by turning off dictionary definitions.

aim ad hack works. ive been using it for a couple of years now.

I use messenger mate. I really like it...

well on my laptop (this) I use aim triton, it sucked at first but now im used to it and it has tons of features I like

on my desktop I use aimutation, which is good, it has a few bugs but nothing horrible, and I like it a lot

Yeah I use Trillian.

Use trillian, I switched to aim triton just so I could edit down my buddy list a bit but I'll be switching back when I have a chance.

Trillian is fully customizable and it uses way less resources and runs much smoother than triton. Plus it lets you log... I really miss my logs.

i had linked SNs and triton signed one off and wouldnt sign it back on.. so its kinda crap.

i have trillian and if you need the upgrade to pro lipatchli i can hook you up

i dont care how it looks. you can download themes for it, but i just run the default. it's fast. it supports aim, yahoo, msn, jabber and icq. and i can script it with activeperl.

i used to run trillian too. my main reason for leaving it was it just kinda sluggish loading up and, well, i like gaim better. )

it supports other networks too (tons of them). the ones I listed are just the ones that I use.
