What are you really hoping you are getting?

What do you think you are getting but are kinda bummed?

I think I'm getting a new cell phone. Maybe the RAZR V3c or the LG VX9800. I like both the phones but I always end up with 1 big gift and a few small things while my sisters open 200 small gifts. Its rough ( I'm just wondering what everyone is hoping for/dreading...

My parents paid my car insurance (they usually do if I make dean's list), but I think they are tacking that on as a Christmas gift. They also paid for my airfare down here (Florida). I figure they'll give me a few small things just so I have gifts to open...but other than than that I don't do very much gift exchange, so other than my girlfriend and her mother, I don't know who else is buying for me. Here's my gift-giving list

To myself 2 bottles of Sizzurp (750mL)[=http//www.internetwines.com/rws30640.html]2 bottles of Sizzurp (750mL) (very rare outside NYC)
To my g/f Inspiron 700m, airfare to FL
To my parents Visiting for XMAS (even though they paid for airfare)
To my sister VTech 5.8GHz DSS Dual Handset Cordless System with Call-Waiting Caller ID - Silver/Gray[=http//www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?CategoryID=cat06012&id=1060002824304&skuId=5831914&type=product&DCMP=KNC-TLC&ref=25&loc=PGR]VTech 5.8GHz DSS Dual Handset Cordless System with Call-Waiting Caller ID - Silver/Gray
To my nephew 6GB 2nd Gen. iPod mini (blue) (He thinks he's getting a zen micro because the iPod is too expensive)

If I buy anything the g/f will be wearing (outside jewelry), be it clothes, boots, sneakers, etc....I always take her with me. I'd rather "ruin" the surprise than get her something she doesn't like, or something she can't or won't wear. Even with the 700m, I was pretty sure she would like the 6000, and really wanted to surprise her...but she ended up saying "you should get me a laptop" one night (just happened to be the night after I told my sister what I was getting her...so I thought my sister must have told her -- she didn't), so I brought her to a Dell kiosk in the mall to check out the different laptops. She chose the 700m, so I waited for the right deal and snagged her one for just under 50% off (30% off, 12% off, $25 off $999, $125 off $1499, 3% off DPA, Free 2-day shipping [+ $24 "handling" fee] - I don't feel like checking, but I think thats all the discounts/coupons I used). It will be waiting for her at my house when we get back to New York )

Those speakers are going to be my big present (they're $250), then my grandparents (who live very cheaply and have a lot of money saved up) are probably going to get me that receiver.

But yes, I'm not the kind of person that brags about it, my dad is a partner at a CPA firm and makes a very nice living.

I guess what he always told me is true, "If you're the best at what you do, no matter what it is, you'll make a lot of money at it."

It was either that or the 7.1 gigaworks system, but my parents said nothing electronic so I just sat there and stared at them for like 20mins and then said money. Which they never give so I have no idea what I will be getting, other then the BF2 SF expack I asked for that is cheap enough that they will probaly buy it.

Do you realize how much Bose sucks, and how much you've been had by their slick marketing? Do you have any idea how much money you're wasting? Have you ever done an honest listening test between bose and a brand half its price?

Admin

21-12-2005 22:13:01

I don't often say this, but your opinion is wrong.

http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bose_Corporation
and especially that article's talk page. Look at their business practices! If they were concerned with the best possible sound, they wouldn't force retail outlets to keep bose equipment physically separate from everything else! They revoke your license to sell if you allow customers to compare them with any other brand side by side. Look at all those frivolous lawsuits! They're [i35b9da413e]awful[/i35b9da413e] and anyone with any experience at all in the audio field will agree.

[quotec7610afc5a="Veek"]TJS, did you download that "Tear You Apart" song I uploaded for everyone a while ago but no one liked?

P.S Why can't I post something without my sexuality being pointed out? cry[/quotec7610afc5a]

if pressed i would grudgingly admit that the flashing pink custom title might have something to do with it

Interpol is fucking awesome, I saw them in concert back in September.

As far as James Blunt, download "Tears and Rain", "Goodbye My Lover", and "High".

Also, check out Stephen Lynch, he's a singing comedian. The entire Superhero CD is incredible.

An Interpol feel would be an understatement. They sound just like them so I'm not sure if by International Music Plagaristic (IMP) law I am legally allowed to like them or not. shrug

Yeah I think she's amazing. I can't find her album anywhere though and I don't do torrents.

There is a bunch of unreleased/unofficial/live stuff here

I didn't really like The Magic Numbers a whole lot, a bit weak, but I liked the one song that was quite popular that they did.

TSJ - you pay for Usenet? Is it any good? and isnt it like 40 dollars or something to get access

theysayjump

26-12-2005 16:40:07

I pay to search NewzBin.com (25 pence per week which is around 40 cents per week) and $15 for NewsHosting.com (soon to switch to Giganews when I get my cash from kerms) and depending on which news reader you use, I can't find a decent crack for NewsLeecher so my downloads are capped, but I'll probably end up paying for that which is about $30 (unless a stable crack is released).

i use usenetserver and its been great for the past several months. no problems i've noticed at all. $15/mo unlimited.

as for newsleecher, i have a working copy back home i can send if you want, tsj

theysayjump

Because Giganews is teh hotness.

I want to try them all, or all the major ones before I make a commitment to one of them. I tried UsenetServer but once you get behind the flashy front page, it just looks shady and the customer service wasn't too great.

It's free to try, but your downloads are capped at about 1/3 of what you would normally download, but when you unlock it or crack it, it downloads as fast as your connection can go.

Although when I had it cracked and working, when it was downloading full speed it would slow down my internet and my Vonage had a delay when I would speak to someone on the phone.

I use Usenetserver and Newsleecher too. Usenetserver is the cheapest for unlimited and is pretty damn consistent. They had some server issues a few months ago but its been perfect since then. Giganews is like $10 more a month for unlimited and I don't see why its any better besides it being the hotness...

[quote655da4cdab="shamash"]Is newsleechers crack easy to find?[/quote655da4cdab]

I can't find one that works consistently. It will work for a few days and then revert back to the trial version.
