I need to add ram to my laptop so I can game. I need PC2700 input pin ram...(I think thats all I need to know to determine the write type). Can anyone help me find a place that sells 512 MB sticks for laptops for relatively cheap. I'm thinking under 60$. Thanks!

Thanks! Looks good. Do I have to have two sticks of ram? Or can I just buy one, and it'll work with my 256 stick there too? Also, whats the best site that gives ratings on different brands of ram?

You do not need to match the sizes.

And there are no really big diferences between higher end manufacturers. Sure, some say that it lasts longer, etc., and to a certain extent that may be true, but I dont believe there are any huge differences.

The one I showed you is perfect- thts the one I would buy myself. Corsair is a very good name.

Thanks. Just realized I have 2 x 256 mb right now, so if i did buy the 512, i would have to replace a stick. so I would acutally be only increasing my ram by another 256. Should I just buy a 1 GB stick of ram?

If I bought 2 x sticks of 512, I would only be gaining 512 mb of ram. If I bought 1 GB stick, I would gain like 750 MB ish. The price is about the same. 512 MB = $50. 1 GB = $100

So hmmm, any advice?

I'd get 1GB so you'll have 1.25GB and if you ever need more you can drop in another 1GB...
