[quote4eb3257c94]Three large explosions have taken place at an oil depot near Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire.

Police say there are casualties. They are at the scene, said a spokesman.

The first blast happened at 0603 GMT, at the Buncefield oil depot, close to the junction 8 of the M1 motorway 10 miles from Luton Airport.

Residents up to 15 miles from the scene reported hearing a "loud boom". One eye witness told BBC News "There are lots of houses damaged."

Witnesses said another two explosions followed the first at 0626 GMT and 0627 GMT.

'House shook'

Eye witness Dave Franklin told the BBC "We woke up at 0555 GMT. There was a massive loud bang which broke windows above us and to the right. The whole sky just turned orange and black.

[i4eb3257c94][b4eb3257c94]"Several other neighbours said they did see a plane go into the depot."[/b4eb3257c94][/i4eb3257c94]

Duncan Milligan, of Hemel Hempstead, said he was awoken by the explosion as his house "shook".

"There was a loud boom and the house shook violently.

"I am about three miles from where the explosion took place but I can see flames high in the sky and smoke billowing everywhere.

"There is clearly a building on fire near the motorway and police and emergency services are everywhere." [/quote4eb3257c94]

It's still very early and that report of a plane might just be bullshit. It must be bad if it was heard 15 miles away.

That's because it's the BBC wink

I think/hope that plane statement is wrong or just bullshit. But it did happen near an airport shrug

EDIT Reuters has it now, but still nowhere else.

Wow, I hope the casualties are minimal and the plane thing isn't true. I hate how US news is slow to pick up on international news if they do at all.

When fuel is being contained in a way like that if there is an accident, it can be gnarly. There was an accident at a rocket fuel plant in NV in 1998. This video was taken from a mile away (I think, maybe a little closer).

Im deeply hurt, especially with the -karma. Im also pretty sure the same amount of clicks to edit, and you dont have to scroll to read your point.

Anyways TSJ, im not watching the news, anything about the plane? or was that just crazy people talking.

EDIT this is how it works Wolferman, anyways... Just turned on CNN, the images are crazy, huge fire and plume of smoke rising in the air. I did hear its just an accident, no mention of a plane.
