lol

So yeah... I was on ebay... And I decided to get this thing[=http//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8733990181&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1]this thing...

I know that it's not a working laptop but I'm gonna see what I can get out of it. I'm sure I'm gonna be the one losing money in the end... But I'm using some money that I got from mturk so I kind of justified my purchase.

When this baby arrives I'll let you know what I got...

He says he hasn't openned them... Who wouldn't open it to see if it's actually worth something so he could get more money out of it?

roll

Oh well... Maybe I can get some parts out of it that are worth something... Or I'll just resell it saying that it broke and I don't know how to fix it.

By the way this guy is selling two others if any of you are interested. lol

His feedback isn't too bad... But it's kind of weird how all of the auctions are private.

Oh well, I'll update when I receive this. And of course if this turns sour I'll eventually end up with my paypal cash from notebooks4free so I can just buy a good laptop.... Hopefully.

I bid up to 3 dollars on one of the other ones. Hopefully it's atleast almost usable P it probably won't even have any power supply or power p

I once got a free box of Thinkpads many years ago from some company that used to do refurbs. They were totally stripped of memory, HD, CD-ROM, Floppy and Battery. I knocked one together, and it was pretty sweet, but cost a bit. (They were pre-A/R/T/X models, so it was me, or being dropped from a few stories) D

It's likely you'll receive the same. I doubt they'd leave that stuff in.

haha, about 2 hours after, i couldn't stand it anymore and retracted my bid. i didn't want to waste 35 dollars on something i'd just throw away.

after you get yours tell me how it is and i might bid P

The auctions will be over by then.

I only had 6 minutes to read all of the auction over and bid on it. It was a hard decision but I just did it anyway. I probably wouldn't have done it if I didn't have some easy earned mturk money.

notice their username, laptoplandia. i'm guessing they do this alot.

i really need to know if i should bid on the IBM or the dell.

Bid on either one. It doesn't mean your getting that brand. He just used that word in his title so more people would see his auction. He says in the auction that they are popular brand laptops but he hasn't openned them so doesn't know what they are but he knows that they are popular brand laptops.

His feedback isn't too bad -

Positive feedback rating - 214

Neutral feedback rating - 18

Negative feedback rating - 8

okay, i'm bidding again /

and he states in the auction not to leave bad feedback because of not working computers. he could have ebay remove it i'm guessing

im guessin no one is gonna give away a working laptop, or any good parts, therefore u end up with a 32mb stick of sd ram )

So the seller has no idea what kind of laptop it is?
Seems better off opening the plastic wrap and finding out.

And its seems like they are just highly used by the description but never know.

That's what I was thinking. I asked him about it and he hasn't responded yet.

johnjimjones

Yeah let me know the response, I have some mturk money too so I'd be up for bidding on that.
Maybe you could make a deal with him and open some wink

it was brand new? or not? what?

[quote1e1893d08e="Vector"]it was brand new? or not? what?[/quote1e1893d08e]

No, he says he gets tons of used laptops from organizations and he's selling 3 that he hasn't openned and he can't garuntee their condition.

Vector

07-12-2005 16:09:49

Well... if it is not opened, then why do you think it is broken? Even if it fell off the the empire state building it would be worth more than $35.....

You could sell it on ebay for starting at $85, so many people would want to buy a laptop that fell off the empire state building, and it could even go to the thousands because people would buy it for advertising, like say a casino would buy it for 20 grand and tell people that the only way to see the condition of the laptop would be to go to their casino and see it on display!

.... darn... who else is going to try to throw a laptop off of the empire state building to sell it on ebay now? -P

... it was my idea first...

Sucks for you. My thrown off the empire state building laptop is already up to $674 on ebay. 8)

Well he could be buying faulty laptops for real cheap and then stripping the parts and then selling it on ebay saying that he gets laptops from yada yada and he makes money off of it. So he could be lying...

Or he's just really lazy or stupid and he doesn't want to bother openning up the package to see if it's worth selling for more money.

If I end up getting the shell of a laptop, I'll try reporting him to ebay. I might not get anything from reporting him since he "can't garuntee the condition of it."

But I guess I'll find out if he has integrity or not when I get it.

Vector

07-12-2005 16:17:33

well... if he says it is a laptop, it is a laptop witha ll of hte parts in it, they may be smashed up, wet, moldy, or perfectly fine but it cant be just the shell...

if it is, then you can report him! w00t!

oh.... if it is a paper laptop he might win...

J4320

07-12-2005 16:28:41

Well actually he wouldn't win if it was a paper laptop because he stated that they are laptops from big companies such as Dell and IBM. D

Can someone do me a favor and send this guy a message and act really interested so he replies back? I need to know if this guy is really on or if he's just ignoring my messages.

Contact him...[=http//feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=laptoplandia&iid=8733990181&frm=284]Contact him...

And after you do it reply here and tell me you sent him a message because we don't want 20 people asking.

I don't know. Just make it so he responds. Both of his auctions have ended so... I don't know what you could say... Maybe you should say this --->

[quote54835293fa]When will you have more laptops for sale? I really want one bad. Please get back to me ASAP![/quote54835293fa]

even if it is completely stripped sell it for parts. I sold my old broken dell for 200 on ebay part by part. ) There are some strange people out there that will buy a chipped and battered hard drive caddy for 30 bucks
