I need some new music and that "How many songs" thread got me started. I'm downloading some Belle and Sebastian, Ryan Adams and Bright Eyes at the moment, but what else should I give a listen to?
No Jazz. No Country. No Rap unless it's alternative. No Trance, No mainstream pap-shite & No whiney pop-punk shite either (i.e Simple Plan).

This is a video of some guy playing Canon in D major on an electric guitar, if you like it I can upload the mp3 version when I find it.
But this guy has some serious guitar skills.

Bright eyes sucks.
TRY The Red West
Jack's Mannequin (AMAZING piano rock)
Rufus Wainwright (possibly the best voice in the world. saw him live, pure sex.)
Ben Lee (it's aussie pop type stuff really good tho, flows great)
Rilo Kiley (one of the female singers I love)
Something Corporate (piano rock love)

That was a sweet video!
I think I'll give Rufus Wainwright a try, heard good things about him but I only liked one Something Corporate song and it pissed me off after a week or so.

If you don't like SoCo, you should still try Jack's Mannequin. It's the same band, but it's more universal and is getting pretty damn popular.

I already love Badly Drawn Boy, so-so about Athlete but I preferred them when they 1st came out, I couldn't find The Features anywhere and I don't really like The Eels.
I'm gonna keep looking for The Features though, thanks. D

I already have From A Basement On A Hill and Figure 8 but I can't find any others anywhere. Apparently there is another posthumous album of his coming out soon.

Anyone know where to get the Regina Spektor album that isn't a torrent?

Jack's Mannequin > You
And I listened to Bright Eyes for a while until I let go. I do like some of the older stuff, like A Perfect Sonnet, Bowl of Oranges, Method Acting.. pretty much those 3 songs really.
I really don't know why he got popular.

Ben Folds was the main act in a tour earlier this year that had both Ben Lee and Rufus Wainwright as people on the side =)
His 'piano rock' is completely incomparable to any other attempted 'piano rock' bands.
Personally, I prefer his solo Live, where it's just him and the piano, but his Ben Folds Five (band) days have some great stuff, too. (In other words two distinct phases of sound to his music)
Just, please, for the love of everything ... don't think 'Brick' is represenative of his typical music. =p
