Got this in a mass email yesterday

[quote09ca1d01ec]Something every American should see.

What is it? See below the photo.........

This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace,
now home to the 4th Infantry division.
It will eventually be shipped home
and put in the memorial museum in Fort Hood, Texas.

The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat,
who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad.

Kalat was so grateful for the Americans liberation of his country;
he melted 3 of the heads of the fallen Saddam
and made the statue as a memorial to the American soldiers
and their fallen warriors.
Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months.

To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms.

Do you know why we don't hear about this in the news?
Because it is heart warming and praise worthy.
The media avoids it because it does not have the shock effect
that a flashed breast or controversy of politics does.

But we can do something about it.
We can pass this along to as many people as we can
in honor of all our brave military who are making a difference.
And please pass this on![/quote09ca1d01ec]

Discuss.

the terrorists you see on tv are a very small percentage of the muslim's. they are just extreme fundamentalists and are no different than the people that say, "in the name of the lord, i blow up this abortion clinic."

it is sad to see how they are depicted and what stupid rednecks think of them.

For a bit more accurate comment on the sculpture and it's origins.

It smelled BS so I checked. It is true that they used parts of the Saddam statue but a lot of the story is made up by hillbillies/rednecks.

that doesnt suprise me. they are the only ones that support the war. they also have "speak english or get out!" bumper stickers on their 91 chevy with a toolbox across the bed of the truck.

Not exactly. That's just about as much of a generalization as the ones the "rednecks" use.

I live in Redneck Town, and trust me, tracemhunter is right. I know tons of Rednecks with the Speak English bumper sticker. The funniest one I have ever seen is one that said, "My son won Inmate of the Month of the Year at the Georgia State Pennetentiary!"

+KMA for your grammar which must be intentional and a joke.

It was intentional. Just to let everyone know so they don't think I am a redneck.

You don't have to be a redneck to agree with the "speak english" thing. You can't expect to get around easily without getting lost in Japan, if you don't speak Japanese. If you want to live in America, [be57dee4b39]you[/be57dee4b39] should learn [be57dee4b39]English[/be57dee4b39], [be57dee4b39]Americans[/be57dee4b39] shouldn't learn [be57dee4b39]Spanish[/be57dee4b39] for you.

I'd have to agree.

actually spanish is a major language and since spanish-speaking immigrants take up a good portion of US consumers it would be a good idea to learn. havent you noticed most of the time when you call an automated line the first thing you hear is, "For english, press 1. For Spanish, press 2."

yup, and the new language to learn will probably be chinese. if you want to be in the international business market, you have to diversify yourself and make sure you can communicate with other people

Yeah Spanish is really the 2nd language here. So many of the cities and streets are spanish named. I've heard so many people visit and say the wackiest things. The city La Jolla is my favorite. Pronounced La Hoya but tourists come and ask, "how do I get to La Joe-la)?" LOL!
