I have several phones that need unlocking. I need someone to guide me through it. These phones are locked to Cingular, can anyone help me out here?

I just downloaded something to unlock the phone, but i dont know what 1/2 the stuff listed on it. Such as MCC+MCN and the two boxes under it.

Copied from SD (I got a few of those 3120s for free this summer)

Here are basic instructions for unlocking phones, primarily Nokia models.

Download the software at nokiafree.org.

Note that sometimes the software's settings for a phone model are correct, and sometimes they are wrong. For example, the settings for the Nokia 3120 are wrong, so you need to use the custom settings provided here. For other models, refer to the information at the end of this post to know if you should use default or custom settings.

You'll need your IMEI number. It's printed under the battery. Or you can enter li#06# on your phone. The number should be 15 digits.

In the software, first click the Options button and turn on Expert mode. Then go back to the main screen and enter
Box 1 "Nokia"
Box 2 "DCT 4 (expert only)"
Box 3 [your IMEI number] (digits only, no brackets)
Box 3.1 This is an auto-calculated value. Do not edit it. (Auto-calculation is a default setting on the Options list.)
Box 4 "U.S.A."
Box 5 "CINGULAR"
Box 6 "31017000" (this should auto-fill-in when you select "CINGULAR" above)
Box 7 "Asic 2"
Box 8 "Custom"
Box 9 "32835" (this is where the magic happens... the default setting of V2/33820 doesn't work. Hence the 'custom' setting and this number)

Click on the Calculate button. The codes will be produced to the right. There are seven of them. The first one is the one you want.

With the sim card removed from your phone (it's located behind the battery), enter the first number on the list without spaces. Here's an example code
#pw+342 146 776 053 642+1#
For the "+" character, press lili
For the "p" character, press lilili
For the "w" character, press lililili
(As you press "li" multiple times, the current character on the display will cycle through li/+/p/w. It's pretty obvious when you start typing in the code.)

If it works, you should get a message "phone restrictions off". If it says "code error", something is wrong. You've either typed in the wrong code, or used the wrong IMEI number in the software. Warning You only get 5 bad attempts until your phone will refuse all (even valid) codes. At that point, you need a cable and special software to unlock it. (But it will still work with the existing service.)
