I can access most web pages and get on AIM, but I can't access some pages like GMail, Hotmail, eBay and Paypal. Also, whenever I open Word it freezes....What could be the problem?

The same thing happened to me this morning. I kept receiving error messages from Norton Antivirus Auto-Protect stating that I needed to restart; as soon as I ran LiveUpdate, all those problems disappeared.
I guess it could be related to the worms going around the last few days. Maybe the antivirus guys are half-forcing you to update your security software...

I have Norton 2004 on my computer, which gives me like no protection at all since everything has expired. I tried wiping out Norton Internet Security this afternoon, and now I have all these problems...
Reformat, your hard drive, D , j/k but thats what I usually do when my computer starts acting weird. Probaly some type of virus.

PLEASE install AVG or another AntiVirus software right now
http//free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
I run AVG on all my home PCs - I know folks like Kaspersky as well.
Then run a full virus scan and check for Adware with Spybot and Ad-Aware as well.
Yea, avg is awesome, thats what I use. You can also do a free online scan that picks up like every virus and has worked wonders for me the link is right here >>http//housecall.trendmicro.com/, just go to scan my pc, trust me this thing is awesome.

I doubt it...I heard you have to open an e-mail to get the virus, which I didn't.

Is your computer on??
D
Honestly, if I was on my regular computer I'd tell you of a forum that deals with thingsl like this specifically.. You download a small program called Hijackthis and it pretty much makes a detailed list of everything your computer is running or has run as well as registry info. if you google something along the ines of 'HJT Logs forum' you should find it. Use HJT to ge the log and postit on those forums, theyll respond within 24 hours with what you should do to fix any problems they may find on your comp..

do a ctrl alt delete and look at what tasks you have running, look at the names and see if you recognize them. lots of spyware and malicious stuff have a name like 'slzdfhf.exe' or something like that. I would get rid of any virus scanning crap you have. I use Trend Micro every 3 weeks or so, its a free online virus and spyware scan. For spyware I definitely recommend pest patrol, it is awesome.

I hate Norton and McAfee. I've been using avast on my computers the past few months and never notice it running. It's free for home users and comes with free telephone support. Even comes with support for scanning p2p, IM (watches my gaim), and Outlook (good for my work stuff). http//avast.com/

dont install any anti virus crap, you should know how to distinguish virus prone sites, emails, etc. Every so often, do an online scan at trendmicro.com. Mcafee and norton suck resources and do more harm than good.
