Hiya pals. I've got something to ask you guys...
Not a too long ago, I got a nasty virus on my laptop. A good pal from these boards told me to use Kaspersky Anti-Virus, and I did. It did the job because the virus didn't lock my Start bar anymore, and didn't lag my computer to hell. But then something odd started happening, my laptop started getting the following blue screen

It only did it a few times after the virus thing. And then it did it a more...and now everytime I boot my computer, it just comes up and restarts it. It doesn't happen in "Safe mode."
I tried doing a system restore to a point before it started happening, but system restore only says that it "cannot be restored to that date." I've tried four different dates and nothing. lol
So I've some some research online and not very much came up, so I decided to ask you computer savvy people.

Can you still repartition the hard drives and start all over? That's what I do anytime my computer starts to get slow or one time I had to do that when I got a virus. Works like a charm!

To be honest, I know how to work on computers when they actually...work. I'm not very crazy about fixing them, even if I have in the past. O
What exactly would I have to do? I'm wondering what is causing it. It seems to happen when all the processes and programs are loading. The funny part is that it would load fine before...even after the virus thing. It only started happening a couple of days after the virus...and now it just completely happens. (

I agree veek. I know nothing about getting computers hooked up or fixed without them working. Can you boot windows xp from the disc?

Well for me it was easy because my computer is custom so I have all the discs for the individual components that make up my computer. What I do is this
1) Insert the Windows XP disc and then restart the computer
2) I am a little fuzzy on the exact directions from here considering I usually figure it out when I am looking through the screens. When it starts up it will load the Windows XP cd, delete the partitions on your computer and then create them again. This way, everything and I mean EVERYTHING will be deleted. Then restart the system.
3) Windows XP will then take you through all the setup screens and it will tell you what to do, i.e. naming your computer, setting up internet, easy stuff.
4) Then it should load Windows and it will only have like the recycle bin on the desktop. This is where I start to load my stuff.
5) I insert my motherboard cd and load the stuff from there.
6) I insert my graphics card and load the stuff from there.
7) Extra hard drive disc and load that stuff
8) Then I do my mouse and keyboard software, anti-virus, internet, cd burning stuff, and then office.
The main thing is to reformat your computer because it will wipe everything out including the virus and it will you start you over from scratch. This way your computer will be like it's brand new. I would search on google to find an exact guide for your computer set-up or at least for further directions. This is just a basic guide. Hope it helps!

I went ahead and completely reformated my computer and started over. I had nothing in it anyway. Just programs and stuff, which I can easily re-download. )
It asked me if I wanted to completely restore my computer, which deleted all my files, and I said yes. It asked if I wanted to make a back up and I clicked no because I figured that the stupid virus, or whatever is causing the blue screen, would come up again. So I just wanted everything to be cleaned out and reinstalled again.
Do ya think it'll do the trick?
Thanks a lot for your help.
[b25895dc91a]EDIT[/b25895dc91a] Aw shit, I just remembered I had like 8 episodes of Will and Grace on there. Oh well, that's the biggest loss, and I'm sure some of you won't even consider that being close to a "big" loss. lol
