eventually all channels will be in HD. The system wont be backwards compatible either. we'll all need new TV's. i think the deadline is 2007? i also heard 2009 so i'm not sure.

Thats never going to pass.. It will just end up getting struck down by the time 2007 reaches. Exactly like the ways of the 'Broadcast Flag'

well if im not mistaken any tv over 37" is required to be hd and half of the others have to be as well. something like that anyways.

i dunno, it may take longer, but i don't see why it wouldn't ever pass, i can almost garuntee you it will. DVD's wiped out VHS.

"Senate Sets HDTV Transition Date in 2009. The House Energy and Commerce Committee has taken a critical step toward completing our nation's transition to digital television (DTV). The House legislation appropriately reflects the needs of consumers, manufacturers, broadcasters and all others with a stake in the DTV transition, while fostering innovation and ensuring America's security. We pledge our full support in working with Chairman Barton, the Committee and other stakeholders as the legislative process moves forward and the final transition to digital television becomes a long-awaited reality."
