I have some Corsair RAM that has a latency of 2-2-2-5. I'm looking to buy some more and I found some Corsair that is the same RAM but has latency of 2.5-3-3-6. I'm pretty sure that all the RAM has to be set to 2.5-3-3-6 but can someone confirm this? Will this really make that big a difference to have higher latency? Is it worth $80 for the lower latency? Someone help a brotha out...

if your a hardcore gamer it may be worth it, otherwise no

Or are running a mission critical server (IE hosting your own multi-million dollar web-store)

Otherwise, not worth it.

they are full of shit, yes, fork out extra $$ for XMS.

Will be well worth it as long as your memory dosent get bottlenecked by another component.

Mission Critical uses ECC ram. Remeber low CAS lat is good but so is higher speeds. So a DDR500 2-3-3-8 will outbeat a DDR400 2-2-2-5 by a long shot, you just have to tweak your latencies and clock and benchmark with superpi.

Corsair is shitty ram, always go with OCZ. http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227052

The fastest RAM my MB will support is DDR400. I already own 1GB (2x512MB) of Corsair XMS (TWINX1024-3200XLPT)[=http//www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=140546&AFFIL=pg&NR=1]Corsair XMS (TWINX1024-3200XLPT). I want to get another GB and I found this RAM Corsair Corsair XMS (TwinX1024-3200C2PT)[=http//www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=140803&AFFIL=pg&NR=1]Corsair Corsair XMS (TwinX1024-3200C2PT). It's $80 less and it looks like its the exact same RAM just with higher timings. I'm not a hardcore gamer anymore and I'm not running a server...

If your BIOS is set to adjust memory timings via SPD, then yes, they will run at the timings of the slowest stick. Otherwise, you could tighten the timings manually if the slower stick can handle it.

Corsair does not suck.....

At best, the tighter timings will offer a few % difference. Not worth the money.

Well if they both are forced to run at 2.5-3-3-6, will that really make that much of a difference considering I'm adding 1GB...

So why spend more getting tighter timing ram when you cant even utlize it?

The RAM I have has 2-2-2-5 timings but if I buy the cheaper RAM both sticks will have to run at the slower timing (2.5-3-3-6). If I buy the 2-2-2-5 for $80 more, both will run at 2-2-2-5...

Corsair does not 'suck' it is just way overpriced. Do not get 4 512mB sticks because that makes it run at 2t. Buy something like this
http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820227210

and sell your old ram on ebay or something. 1t is a lot better then 2t.

RAM is pretty important, and believe it or not you can overclock your ram. And when you overclock something you have to read ALL about it. I have my ram at DDR430 2-2-2-5 @3.3V and I have got it up to DDR500 2.5-4-4-8 with some errors, but not many. I just do a lot of stuff so I dropped it down to 430 for a guarnteed stable OC.

It retails for $200. Its Corsair DDR400 1GB (2x512). The model is TWINX1024-3200XLPT and the timing is 2-2-2-5. How much would you pay?
