If you read this you will see the powerbooks will undergo a design change and will be 20%-25% thinner!!!! They will also be powered by intel.. A rumored 13 inch widescreen ibook will also come out. This will all happen by the next school year. SWEET!

I like my Powebook however it is annoying that after I get mine they finally decide the time frame for their new line. Though I knew about the new Intel ones before I bought my Powerbook. I think the new ones will be faster but not by a great deal, not noticeable or needed unless you are big into high end video editing or music production.

I know the powerbooks are the thinnest laptops around pretty much but damn!!! up to 25% thinner soon! Apple is great. I will definately conserve my money for a while so i can buy one of those beauties. It will be my precious just like the ring in the lord of the rings D

My friend has an Alienware laptop and that thing is COLOSSAL! My Powerbook is perfect, perfect size, resolution, speed, and looks sleek!

16-11-2005 17:52:52

yea those alienwares are portable desktops, not laptops. they are huge and only get like 45mins of battery life.

haha yeah in my English class in college, he has to sit next to the outlet every class because the laptop has a terrible battery. The screen is huge and the graphics are good though. Just too big and heavy for carrying.

what size powerbook do you have?

I just got the new one. I ordered the Powerbook and they upgraded it because they switched from offering either 5 or 6 to just three with superdrives standard. I got the 15", 1.67 Superdrive, 1gig RAM, 80gig hard drive. It's super sweet and fast. I had been wanting one forever because they are the standard in music and I am big into recording/anything with music although I don't plan on using my laptop for main recording, just portable spot recording. I have my desktop for main recording.

I definitely can't wait for the switch to Intel processors. The best OS (Mac OS X [Tiger?]) with near-best gaming capabilites (AMD ftw D) is what I've always wanted in a computer!!

Are you talking about gaming on their laptops? You know you can already have OS X on a normal PC right?

) Well i will have my 360 for gaming but the new intel processors will make it easy for you to dual boot windows and OSx which will be a dream come true for me. I will proably have windows on there to play a couple games from time to time. I will use OSX though much more, it's just so much better.

You got that last thing right but once again, you can already dual boot the systems on a regular system.

I know that but, it will be more efficient and easier done once intel comes around. I use macs at school but i don't own one. I know intel will play a big role.

I have just a step down from that, Dell Inspiron 9300, 17" widescreen. Not a good choice for mobility.

You'd need two drives for that, and right now I only have one. I really don't want to take the chance of destroying my 160GB drive with that kind of operation, so I'd rather just wait patiently for the Intel-switch or at least till my budget allows for me buying a second drive, which I need anyway. Also, you need an x86 Intel processor, which I don't have and don't intend to get. (AMD pwns Intel, gaming-wise)

i had it setup dual boot with XP. i ended up wiping it because the video card in my laptop wasn't supported 100%, it would fuzz out on me occassionally and when it went to sleep the LCD wouldn't come back on.
