well, recently my iPod headphones quit working and the left earbud makes exploding noises when I play it (no, I wasn't playing it loud, it just stopped working).

Anyways...I've read a few reviews on the[b770e4d9946] Shure e3c[/b770e4d9946]'s and have heard nothing but amazing reviews from it. I was looking for it on ebay and just remembered about those [b770e4d9946]Etymotic 6i[/b770e4d9946] headphones. I haven't really looked into those yet, but they really do match w/ the iPod's design more.

Can anyone give me any opinions on which ones are the "better" headphones....preferrably someone that has used one or the other...

I would go for the Etymotic headphones, because I have tried on both of them, and the Etymonics are definitely a lot easier to handle, and to put on then the Sures. They also have excellent sound quality. Although everyone does have different ears, I'm not the only one who thinks the Etymotic's fit better.

Good luck deciding.

i have spent more than that on headphones (sennheiser hd-555). any great set of headphones is worth the money. even though mine are huge!

I love my e3c's. They sound amazing but I am not so into the way they fit into my ears. I might want to get custom molds sometime soon -P

I also enjoy my e3c's that I got from getipod4free, however if you are really into bass-heavy music, they might not be the best for you.

I prefer my er6i's to my e2c's - I've seen e3cs and they fit similarly to the e2c's and the e2c's aren't all that comfortable. after hearing the 6i's the e2c's don't really sound all that great. i think the 6i is the sweet spot between price and product and if you wait for a deal you can get one for under $80.

Damn I wish I had know this before I got my E3c's. They are super nice, don't get me wrong, but I hear these are close to as good for $60 less...

go to pricegrabber.com

I wrote a huge review comparing my old e3c and my new er6i's for them. I'm under the user spiike, which used to be my user here but disabled since i haven't been here for like a year.

well, i'm thinking I may jump on the e3c's and just return them if I don't like 'em...cause they have a 30-day money back, right?

Admin

15-11-2005 14:34:37

i don't know about that. personally i "bought" some e2c's at frys and returned them after a couple weeks, no questions asked, to make sure they were what i wanted.

as for the debate, i dont think i could sleep with the e3c's on and I can with the er6i's which is nice in a dorm situation here. also my e2c's got uncomfortable after about 1.5-2hrs but er6is can go for 4+ with no discomfort...

How so? Do you have a link to whatever it is you're referring to?

I have two iPods right now, may as well order a couple more headphones...

They're all casino offers...

I won a pair of MX Fontopias from AnyGift4Free, but the drums, cymbals, and vocals (most notably the "s" syllable) suck. A lot. The guitars, keyboarding, and bass are fine though. An okay deal when they're free. Anyway, I got a pair of Philips HN 110's (big ol' headphones) a while back and the sound quality is very good, to say the least. Especially for $30 on Amazon.

Sennheiser HD-280 Professional's baby. At least that is what I am going to get but they are just really good for monitoring from recording music, well good for headphones.

reposting here too

uhhhh, I just got the ER-6i as recommended b4 by admin... from Amazon.... so far I'm utterly shocked. This is the biggest ripoff and piece of shit since.... well since ever.

My ears are almost bleeding, it hurts so much to insert and keep them in there. I feel like I've just been earfucked 3 times in a row.

The sound is worse than my iPod earbuds, there's absolutely no bass, just pure treble, no matter how deep I try to put them in (did I mention that part hurts?).

The only part that is true is they're truly sound isolating, I can't hear shit even when I snap my fingers next to my ears. But that comes at a price of having something almost touching your brain. Unfortunately, isolation was the part that I need the least, as I don't care about outside noise as much as I care about sound quality.

Overall, I'm very very disappointed, I wonder if I can return them or something... Next time I'm buying earphones, I'm trying them on in the store.
