so I got my ipod from gratis in late may.
Now I get the sad ipod icon face a bunch.. i will then restore it.. and it will work for like 15 minutes.. then sad icon again.
Heres my question, I see there is a 1 year limited warranty.. will my ipod still be covered? its all cosmetic dammages.. (scratches from being in my pocket) and i also used a scotch brite pad on the back (does not void warranty)

As long as the damage didn't come from you "mistreating" it, then you should still be covered.
Call them up and ask them, that's the best way to find out. Or if you still have all your bumf that you get with it, have a look in there at the "TOS" of your warranty.

that happene'd to my gf's ipod. The apple store called it "the case of the sad bob" and replaced it that day. They said it just happens sometimes with old age and there isn't anything in particular that causes it.

Yea, you could also pickup applecare for about $70, best money ive ever spent. Im actually sending out my 4th gen 40 gig today. The make replacements very easy with applecare, it doesnt take long to get your ipod.
