I just sold my Xbox and the guy sent me paypal($215 yay!). Paypal told me that I can't receive payments on Paypal that have a credit/debit card in them. I'm using the personal account so it won't let me.

I need to upgrade to a premiere/business account to receive his payment I guess..... I tried to figure out what the differences are between a premiere account and a personal account but I can't really tell.

So what are the differences of a premiere account and a personal account? And does it cost money to upgrade? Will the fees be different?

The fees are alot higher with a Premier account.

Yeah it costs to upgrade, but I'm not sure what. I think it's like some bullshit annual fee or something, and the fees will be different because......well because there will be some.

Personal accounts don't have fees but every other type above that does. You get charged fees whenever someone sends you money, but not when you send them money (they get charged).

A $250 payment from Trainn ends up with you getting $242.

You can always upgrade, then after he sends the cash just downgrade, the only problem is once you downgrade you cannot upgrade again.

people with teh lower accounts dont pay fees for cash they recieve.
For example if you have a low level paypal account and I send you 20$
you will keep the full $20

If you get the premier account and I send you 20 paypal, paypal will only give you like $18.45 or something like that. but the trade off obviously is the ability to accept CC payments.

I believe paypal will actually allow you to hold two accounts at different levels though...

Just Upgrade to [b46536fd9e6]PREMIER[/b46536fd9e6] - personal accounts can only receive payments from Banks or from account balance (no fees) with a premier account you can accept any kinf of payment but they charge you fees

Upgrade to Premier - get your payment and then downgrade to personal account again.

PAYPAL allow you to have TWO accounts BUT they must have each their own information (address, CC, etc)

Does it cost money to upgrade?

JUNIOR6886

It's 100% free - all you have to do is upgrade (need to provide CC and all those things)

When you upgrade to premiere, do they charge you extra only if the payments are through credit/debit cards or do they charge you extra for all incoming payments?

Was free here also. I'm not aware of any annual fee or anything, but there will be a small percentage taken away from incoming payments, as mentioned.

I could have sworn there was some kind of small payment they took (not when receiving cash), maybe I'm thinking of their business account shrug

Just upgrade man, and then downgrade - easy

theysayjump

I use Premier account just because I am doing a lot of trading, completing sites, receiving and sending paypal etc.

If you amount he is sending you is roughly $200, just upgrade and you will end up with maybe $195.......not that big of a deal.

It's either upgrade and get $195, or don't upgrade and get nothing.

J4320

10-11-2005 18:13:15

I upgraded. D

I still hate paypal.

-_-

It kind of sucks how they won't let you upgrade again after you've downgraded.

tracemhunter

10-11-2005 18:17:33

the only fee you ever have to pay is if you go above premier. with premier you have the 500/mo withdraw limit but with the next level up it is unlimited. but the next level up is 30/mo.

Maybe I should just stay upgraded. I can't really lose [ic676b6ccc1]that[/ic676b6ccc1] much money in fees can I?

ilanbg

I went premier for about a month, and paid about $7 in fees. I downgraded and opened a new account I use just for credit card purchases. $84 a year is too much for me. ?

In the future, if anyone needs to accept a credit card charge, they can use my paypal. I'll send the money from there so they can avoid having to upgrade.
(Obviously PM before sending and demanding money.)

Good grief there is a lot of misinformation this thread.

lithe guy sent you a CC funded payment and with a personal account you can't receive his payment. You HAD two options, 1)refund his payment and ask for an alternate payment method 2) upgrade your account (which charges you fees on ANY payment you receive).

Now that you've upgraded your account, you can downgrade one time back to a personal account, where you won't be charged any fees. I have two Paypal accounts
one for bank or balance funded payments - the Personal Account
the other for CC-funded payments - the Premier Account

Each account has it's own bank account associated with it. In order to create two accounts you need to have bank accounts at two different financial institutions ie WashMu, and Bank of America.

eBay and Paypal each take about 4.5% of every transaction as their fee. You can calculate the exact amount using this online calculator.

how do you downgrade? I was fumbling around with it and accidentally upgraded trying to see what the premier benefits were.
