I got an original minimac (for free of course) and am thinking about throwing the harddrive into my laptop if it's a 5400rpm or higher... anyone know?

Once you've scrapped the HD, I'll buy it for $150.

Mac minis don't come with that 7200RPM hard drive - that'd be a manual upgrade. The older mac minis come with a 4200RPM drive, while the ones that started shipping a little while ago have the 5400RPM drive. So by 'original' you mean the older kind, you have the 4200. If you sell the mac on ebay, you'd have more than enough money to buy a nice laptop HD though.

thanks, i found that it's the 4200rpm... bummer... it's staying in the mac... i have no intentions of selling the mac though... i like it...it's a nice computer for my girlfriend. It just doesn't need an 80gig drive... my laptops 40 gig would be a better fit... but i'm not about to run a 4200 rpm drive on my laptop... 5400 is slow enough.
