So you get a 360 on release day...

I've heard a few people here mention that they're going to go to the midnight launch and buy some Xbox 360s to sell. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but how much do you think you'll realistically make on ebay? I just wanted to make sure it would be worth it to go get a 360 strictly to sell the next day and make a profit. What are your thoughts?

I think it would be a great idea. I was wondering, do they have them at Walmart? I mean they do have EVERYTHING there...

It all depends on whether the rumored shortage is real. If it is, you'll do quite well for yourself--probably sell a $400 system for a minimum of $600. But if there are more for sale at retail than anyone expected, you won't be able to mark it up much at all...

I was at CircuitCity today, and they had a kiosk. Unfortunatly, some 12 year old douchebag was hogging it but the game (Medal of Honor?) looked reallly, realllly good.

Haha, I had a similar experience the other day in wal-mart. This 8 year old douche was playing a demo of call of duty 2, probably the same game your douche was playing.

I've seen all the articles, but I won't be convinced until I see that they're really, really difficult to get. Most "shortages" never really materialize...can you remember the last time you had enough cash to buy something at retail but couldn't find it anywhere? I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I can't recall many widespread shortages...

Yup...I'm doing the same. I doubt I'll get that much, but it'll take a big chunk out of the cost of an HDTV...

I guess it would depend on if you really want it soon. If you sell now you can get a good chunk of change and use some of it to buy the 360 later. Maybe even buy a new HDTV to play it on D

I'm almost positive that there will be a shortage. It comes out around christmas time, if you place your auction up about a week or 2 before christmas your sure to get some pretty high bidders.

im not claiming to have any idea about any of this, but it would make sense that there will be enough supply right before christmas. To me, it doesnt make sense to purposley skip one of the biggest spending periods. If thes articles are wight, id suspect supply to fill in a month afer release.

ewll i went to best buy today for some reason and the girl at the register tried to get me to reserve an xbox 360 and said i would get one in january. fortunately i already have one reserved and i am getting one at 12am launch at a wal-mart down the street because as you know, i know the lady that installs the kiosks. both are going for sale and i expect to get around 600-700 each.

there was ipod shortages durin christmas lastyear, so im bettin there will be 360, ipod with video shortages this year

no clue but i remember the ps2 launch in the first week in the us. i camped out at best buy overnight with a group and sold them on ebay asap and cleared $250 a unit on each.

i think i got in on some online sales bundles as well at amazon that sold out pretty quick in the first couple of weeks and sold those for a profit as well, then quit the whole game because it didn't seem worth it anymore, there were units you could eventually find locally in ca.

I think the shortage thing might really happen, but still, there are going to be so many stores with them on launch, if you go look around everywhere you are bounc to find one, then sell it on ebay to someone in the UK for 800+.

is it just me or am i not excited about xbox 360. Whenever i think about it, i just think that PS3 will blow the competition apart and that it may bare better graphics and whatnot.

in my opinion, nintendo revolution has caught my eye the most, but not so much that i'm going to buy it.

Xbox 360 hasnt blown me away at all, and this coming from an xbox fanboy. However, thinking the PS3 is going to be the second coming of christ is just going to disappoint everyone. Ive kept an open mind through this generation of consoles and the xbox looks to be the best one, just because of all the developer support its getting, and nothing can beat Live. Now if the PS3 can come out at around 400 (which is impossible unless they really scale back alot of thing) then it might be a contender. But with the xbox coming out in a few weeks, and sony launching who knows when, it looks like the xbox will be the winner. Think about all the casual gamers that have to have a next gen madden, are they going to wait a couple years to play, or just buy a 360 now for probebly cheaper, and have a better internet system. wheneve that happens its just going to sell way more 360's and with selling way more 360's, more developers get onboard. I see launching early only a good thing here.
