I tried to install gentoo once cause i wanted to learn it, but the HD drivers failed during installation and haven't bothered since.

I've been thinking about dual booting with red hat, but I don't want to go through the crap of something not working.

Running Debian via Virtual PC. Previously had a box setup with KnoppMyth (stripped down knoppix setup for MythTV) for use as a PVR.

Fedora Core 3 and other Red Hat 9 linux is the only linux I have really used much, well I guess some Mandrake too. But overall my linux experiance has been pretty bad.

Last time I installed linux could not install display drivers and my screen was slow as shit. So I had to download nvidia drivers from the page, and well you got to compile them and install them manually. And I even asked for help in IRC and still could not do it. You had to download all these extra tools and ect... probaly a really easy task for someone who knew linux, but for me I was really really confused. So I just quit it. I have used linux before successfully, but not that time (.

ubuntu is the ulrimate user friendly distro because its like debian but better (the apt-get to download programs is my one true love) and the community is nice to get you started up.

kubunu-the kde version is pretty crappy, wait till they make it good to use it.

That's why I love gentoo. If you can get it installed and running, the rest is easy. Portage makes it so that you can simply go to the terminal, and write "emerge nvidia kernel" and it will check for the latest stable ebuilds, and download, compile, and install them for you. It works for any linux app that more then 5 people use. (gaim, gimp, etc.++)

Gentoo on the old ass laptop and a slightly retarded copy of red hat on the testing box.

You should start a campaign for donations to change it, I'd throw in $.02. You gotta admit though, admin knows his economics with this title change thing.
