don't know if this has been posted but here it is...
-what your about to do is make your song's volume louder in iTunes
so you wouldn't need to raise the volume on your ipod click-wheel,
which will reduce the battery usage dramatically!
1. open itunes
2. plug in your ipod
3. right-click a song on your ipod (or select a bunch of them ctrl + click)(ctrl + A to select all)
[b4dfe6800ec](might freeze computer if too much songs are selected)[/color4dfe6800ec][/b4dfe6800ec]
4. choose "[b4dfe6800ec]Get info[/b4dfe6800ec]"
5. choose "[b4dfe6800ec]Options[/b4dfe6800ec]" tab
6. drag the volume adjustment bar all the way to +100%
7. change the [b4dfe6800ec]EQ[/b4dfe6800ec] if you want (optional)
8. click "[b4dfe6800ec]ok[/b4dfe6800ec]" and iPod will change the setting..
[b4dfe6800ec]WARNING[/color4dfe6800ec][/b4dfe6800ec] be sure to do this for all the songs because for example, when your listening to a song without this enhanced setting,
then all of a sudden you listen to the next song with this enhanced loud setting,
the song will be blasting into your ears! shock shock
I know cuz this happened to me.... oops
Have fun!

That won't save battery life, the iPod would still be outputting the music at the same volume level, you would just be able to get it louder.

it will, since you would turn down the ipod volume lower,
which will drain the battery slower,
which leads to fewer recharges,
which leads to a longer battery life...
I'm listening to my ipod right now with this setting and so far
(about 3 hours listening) less then 1/4 of the battery icon is lost..
before I did this, I would have lost like half the battery icon already...

also, going into your ipod setting and changing the backlight timer to 2 seconds helps a lot too!

read it off the internet/forum somewhere, and a friend told me
so I tested it and I say it will work
someone could test this if they have 2 same ipod...
play the song repeatly for like 30mins - 1hour
then check back and see which one lost more battery
the volume of the 2 songs would have to be the same though (decibel)

The iPod will still be playing at the same volume no matter how you set the volume bar on the iPod...which means it will use the same energy/power...which means that it won't save any battery...

Did you and your friend get this crazy idea off the same site that tells parents that AMD uses child labor and video cards are for hackers?

Some of my favories are

"If your son spends more than thirty minutes each day on the computer, he may be using it to DOS other peoples sites."
"BSD, Lunix, Debian and Mandrake are all versions of an illegal hacker operation system, invented by a Soviet computer hacker named Linyos Torovoltos, before the Russians lost the Cold War."

Exactly. Don't believe everything thats on a forum. Also, pumping the volume up on all your songs is going to cause distortion...

that actually makes it so your music would completely sound like ass.
the legitimate files that use the volume feature would be thrown off.
it would still need the same power to move the magnets in the ear phones the exact same fucking way.

Stupidest fucking topic ever.
No, this will not have any effect on your battery life. This will simply make your music sound like 600% ass.
What you're experiencing is the placebo effect. And that article is sarcastic, you morons.
