Rented the domains freeipodvideos.com and freeipodnanos.com for 48 hours.

I paid $75 to the owner (a friend of mine).

Will let you people know who it goes so you can do the same if it does well!

Redirect hasn't been started yet, but will be later!

Well seeing as the guy who owns freeipodnanos.com got over 50 greens from it, I don't think so.

Yeah... Somewhat lame but it unexpected redirectly obviously work... I wonder what freepay thinks about it.

Google recently won over some redirect/typo sites, I'd also wonder if freepay has any potential legal right to a page as such... hmmmmm....

TheUKNetwork

Why would FreePay have a right to the domain, freeipodnanos.com or freeipodvideos.com ?

FreePay don't own any sites with the same name!

And even if they did that's like saying any site with the prefix free can be claimed by FreePay.

True they currently do not own names that are directly like that but it is pretty obvious that people are visiting these trick referral sites are potentially harmful to FreePay.

But legally they'd have no case. (I'm studying law).

Well good for you, so then you should be able to explain the difference between the kind of dammage that google was incurring from redirects than Freepay does.

I'm not sure if you're saying that because you don't believe I'm studying law, or because you seriously want to know!

But not to sure about what happened with Google... care to tell me?

I can tell you and its a huge difference(I think you can figure them out for yourself) also there is a huge difference between the type of site google runs and the one freepay runs and part of the reason google one is because of the TYPE of company they are
they were using sites like www.gooogle.com or www.gogle.com

google filed a lawsuit against people who were using these site names that were similair to theirs for their benefit and won

I'm not sure about legal ramifications...but I think ya'll are wrong here. These redirects mostly go to freepay sites, so that helps them, not hurts them. Secondly this is precisely why gratis became freepay. So they don't have to worry about US buying domains like freexbox360 and having to settle for free360xbox anymore.

If they were ever going to take a company to court over a domain name it would have been in that instance.

No, i'm not doubting that you are going to law school, but I'd be seriously interested in knowing.

[quotebc23eb1ee6="PoPoJiJo"]google filed a lawsuit against people who were using these site names that were similair to theirs for their benefit and won[/quotebc23eb1ee6]

google and freepay aren't both in business to make money? does it really matter how they are both making money? The service they both provide I will definatly agree is quite different. And (if you read on) someone renting a redirect site could potentially be harming freepay, if they are doing it well enough.

[quotebc23eb1ee6="justinag06"]These redirects mostly go to freepay sites, so that helps them, not hurts them.[/quotebc23eb1ee6]

Freepay (while this was discussed at a time it was still gratis) had said in an interview that they do lose a bit everytime a product ships. So if I were renting a site that basicly guaranteed easy completes it would raise the number of products shipped and thus hurt Freepay.

I guess in somewhat-summation, I'd be wary of doing something like this. If it works, that is super, but I would imagine Freepay can track entry points and could easily disqualify a lot of referrals generated this way because you aren't really doing the work of generating the referrals.

Well the domains aren't even mine... as said in the original thread, I rented them!
