Since Purdue gives webspace away to each student and free access to Frontpage, I figured I'd learn HTML, but I don't know anything beyond making links.
Any suggestions as to adding themes/graphics to the page or just a good tutorial? or even just color....lol

Google "HTML Tutorial" - there are literally hundreds of helpful and comprehensive tutorials.

www.w3schools.com is pretty good and useful too. You can practice in sample boxes and stuff.

Try using Dreamweaver if you have access to it. I use it all the time....

IMO you shouldn't use something like dreamweaver or frontpage until you understand the code. kinda how math teachers often ask that you learn something by hand before learning the caculator shortcut.

Agreed.

Believe it or not, I learned a lot from this site http//www.lissaexplains.com/ when I was starting to learn HTML 5 years ago.

I couldn't agree more. It just pains me to (I'm a frequenter of a website that includes a programming forum, and we get posts like "why is my site broken in firefox/ie (take your pick) becuase they used dreamweaver to drag and drop images, slopping broken links and unvalidatable markup) see people butcher code with a wysiwyg.
Its a great interface, though (dreamweaver)
The code highlighting is excellent, at least for PHP

My school gave me free space too. In fact, it was required to make an online portfolio. I learned from http//www.w3schools.com/html/[]http//www.w3schools.com/html/ too. I just started using Dreamweaver about a week ago. I used to just used notepad and check it as I go along. I like dreamweaver, but I only use the coding and preview sections. I don't ever drag and drop anything.

Really good point, I was just making the page based on the commands that were there. Gotta learn the right way.

I also agree. Be a man and learn HTML in notepad and then do other stuff with it later.

WHAT??? How could you dare call Lafayette better than Hammond! Oh wait... nm...

Yeah, Lafayette is better, there are academic standards there. Up here they let any tom dick or tyrone in but they are working to change that.

I know what you mean. I'm still shocked at the number of idiots running around here. Today I met the stupidest person I've ever met without being labeled retarded. Transfer on up wink What year are you?
