Looking into opening multiple multi-network sites. I just bought the domains off yahoo for cheap so I still need hosting. I don't wanna get ripped off, or short change myself on hosting.

What are my best options?

What do ya'll reccomend?

any input from freesite owners, mods, etc. would be greatly appriciated

My current host (800poundgorilla.com) doesn't do smaller packages like mine anymore so I can't recommend them, even though they're really great.

I can say that you should certainly avoid 1and1.com. I'd go with a host with a proven track record. A lot of people use and are satisfied with dreamhost - PM me for a referral link and I'll split the commission with you if you want.

I remember when 1and1 just opened I signed up and got a free 2 year hosting package... I dont' use it anymore and lost the password but it sure was sweet when I used it.

Talk to me on AIM (taylorwilsdon) or msn (milo@goofygarber.net) and I can set you up with better packages and pricing for your needs.

Dreamhost is beautiful. Archon has a promo code setup (archon97 i think) so you get the full 97 dollars off, and it ends up being 24 dollars for a year of hosting + domain.

What's your hosting site? I'm going to move my photography site soon since the host I'm with is going to close down when my account expires. It won't be in a couple of months or if I move out. I want to find a place as soon as possible so I can move out.

I'm not sure I want to trust my work being hosted on a site that has their own layout messed up. shock

How long have you been running? And I don't need much space. Is there a custom order thing, or not?

Nearly every customer I have is on a custom plan, the website is just a placeholder (I just contracted a design, actually)
I've only been up about 3 months, but everything has been very steady. I've already got servers rented out for another two years, so I can guarentee at least one full.

Heres a list of paid, hosted sites (free sites and addon domains aren't listed)

Good deal, and btw - the prices will be far lower than the ones listed on the main site, those are just examples.

Well I think I'm only going to need like 250 MB of space. Maybe 5GB bandwidth? Not fancy add-ons and crap.

I am not stealing anyones business, If you can only get customers from a free site forum them more power to you but there are other options in the hosting industry.

goofygarber

19-10-2005 18:15:44

I origonally set this up to host a bunch of friends who needed hosting (going in together on a server, I suppose) but then this guy drummed up a ton of business for me so I rented another dedicated server and its slowly evolving into a business. I perfer to have my customers more personal.
