So I'm gonna buy an HDTV in about 2 weeks. In researching them, I'm finding a lot of customer reviews, but very little to explain the various features/stats of each TV. Can anybody recommend an HDTV comparison site?

Great suggestions. I trust both of those...

Thanks!

From what i have been reading, Panasonic is the way to go if buying a plasma. Sharp, Panasonic, Sony, and Samsung are good LCD's.

But yea, CNET has a pretty in-depth guide to all HDTV's. I think i am going to be getting this Panasonic Plasma.

Wow, that's a nice looking TV...

I had set a budget of $1,000, so I'm probably not going to get anything amazing. I'm actually planning on getting a CRT, but I'm still researching...

If you plan on less than $1000, than i would definattly get a CRT. Any LCD in that price would be pretty crappy, or tiny.

Exactly. There are some Samsungs there are right on my threshold, but they're smaller than what I'm looking for. There's actually a 30" Samsung that looks pretty good, but I guess it's got a few flaws. I might go for the same Sony that my roommate got...

AVS forums, if you want to buy something consult the experts first.

Thanks.

I guess the other thing I'll need to think about is [i2f35d3f6a8]where[/i2f35d3f6a8] to buy. I'm a little nervous about ordering a heavily discounted TV online...seems to good to be true.

If you buy a plasma TV you are a moron. First of all you have to recharge the plasma about every 5 years. This means the picture qulaity gets progressively worse as you watch it. Second of all they do not look nearly as good as lcd. Go with lcd save money in the short run and the long run.

I'm probably still going with CRT...

Yea, CRT still has the best picture, fastest response time, and blackest blacks, for the most part. They are the heaviest and take up the most room but the trade off is price. I don't plan on moving any time soon so it's worth it to me to have the best picture and the best price. I don't have much money to spend right now so I'm getting one of the referb philips as a special order from gamesgifts.

How big is the difference between CRT and LCD? I'm not moving any time soon either, but the weight tradeoff is one I might be willing to make...
