I've heard yes this is ok to do, and I've heard no don't do it or you'll screw up the TV. I'm not a hardcore gamer, I play maybe 5 hours a week and when I'm not playing I don't leave it on. I guess the main concern I heard was it causes screen burn when you leave it on too long.
Also, the Plasma that I have doesn't even have composite hook ups so if I do play the Xbox on it how the heck do I hook it up? It's got S video, DVI, and that other cable connection.
Here's what I got...

You only get burn in if you pause the game and leave the TV on; it should be fine.

Yes, burn in is the main concern. I guess it is just a chance you have to take. You can hook up your xbox, with s-video or component cables using the high definition AV pack.

I wouldn't. On most video games you have a little info bar in the corner and it sits there for just about the entire time you play. That could burn in to your screen.

Yeah, but you get the same problem watching sports, ect because the little thing in the bottom (cbs logo, espn ect)
I say just go for it, and don't play for too long at one time

I have a high def pack but I can't plug it into the TV because there aren't any composite ins on the TV.

The hi def pack has component, the regular adapter is composite. Are you mistaking the two? Your plasma should have component. Be careful with burn-in, since as you know, you're risking it.

OK, so your tv didn't come with any adapters or anything? The easiest way would be to use the regular AV pack that has S-video
