I don't want to fast. A few of my friends have done it but I don't want to be hungry and I don't want to get all weak and pathetic feeling from no food.

If you fast, your body goes into starvation mode.
Basically your body has a super energy conserving mode made for times of food shortage.
So, basically you end up only burning like 1000 or so calories a day instead of the usual 2200 cal/day.
So, maybe not as less fat as you'd think.
Level of fatness is more of a lifestyle (and genetic predisposition) than a few days.

Yeah, fasting for 1 day will actually not help you lose weight.
It doesn't help until after 4 days, when your body starts eating fat. It also helps clean your colon and other body parts, and a 1 week fast every 2 years or so can be very healthy.
