the seller should be taken off ebay. what a scammer. in the title it says for a psp, and then it lists all the specifications, etc. and then at the very, very end of the auction description it says for information only. jeez. what a craphead.

Yes it's allowed, but generally someone will report the auctions. In this case, since the seller is brand new, it's likely someone set up a brand new account just to sell this "info" knowing they're going to get a crapload of negative feedback and go NARU, but in the meantime collect a ton of money.

Wow I'm an idiot, was about to fall for that. Shows how much patience I have to read.

yeah....the guy will end up with maybe 100$ profit after all his funds are taken back.

I doubt he is there to make any profit.

But, he does manage to get some attention. And, that's all that he needs - 5 attentions to get his PSP.

He'll probably give back the money and send a ref link. That way he gets a free ref and a Freepay ref is worth like $50.

Why would he get his funds taken back? The seller states clearly what you're buying, if you bid on the auction. Clearly the auction is meant to be deceptive, but, there's nothing in paypal or ebays's T&C that would protect a buyer of this auction.

btw, he's up to $450.

He definately will get his funds taken back. A friend of mine saw how much free stuff i was getting from these sites and decided he could make a few bucks off of people by selling packets of information on ebay that told everything you needed to know to get ipods, psps, xboxs, and everything else on these free sites. His auction descriptions werent misleading like the one in this post. Here is exactly what his description stated

"You are bidding on an informational packet that will tell you everything you need to know to get a Brand New free PSP online. You are not bidding on an actual PSP system."

He made auctions like that for all free items, not just the PSP. These packets sold for anywhere from $10 to $395. Somebody even bid $175 on a packet to get a free XBOX....they dont even cost that much at walmart or somewhere. People are such idiots. The ebay terms and conditions even state that it is the buyers responsibility to read the entire auction before bidding on an item...

The most money came from Photo Ipod auctions. Anyways, over the course of 3 days, he had sold over $16,000 worth of these packets (about 200 total auctions) then all the paypal cash started rolling in. He was able to get about $2,000 transferred to his bank account before his ebay account was suspended and his paypal account put on hold. Although he technically did nothing wrong, paypal and ebay were getting so many complaints that they shut him down. He has gotten a countless number of email and phone threats from people claiming they will take him to court for fraud if he doesnt refund their money. This all happened at the beginning of summer and i think he is still having to deal with paypal and all these idiot buyers.

He never even expected to make more than $10-$20 off of each of these packets, but that just goes to show you how many stupid people there are on ebay who dont even bother to read item descriptions. It was just in paypals best interest to keep 200 unsatisfied customers happy instead of keeping my 1 friend happy.

He successfully transferred $2000 to his account, but after getting all the complaints and paying for the ebay listing fees for 200 auctions....he might have to actually pay people back out of his own pocket...which would really suck.

So my advice, DONT TRY THIS!
