is anyone eles excited? media event is going on as we speak, i will update this thread when we get more information.

edit its all but official, head over to http//www.engadget.com/ to see some specs. shipping next week. anyone wanna register videoipods4free.com? lol.

"The new iPod will be 30% thinner than the current 20GB iPod (making it 0.44-inches thick—say wha?), and will feature a 60GB version and editions of both in black. The 20GB should go for $299, and the 60GB for $399. They’ll be shipping next week." - engadget

WHAT?! .44 inches thick? Its not going to be called a video ipod, just an ipod.

- 2000 music videos available from iTunes Music Store.
- iTunes 6.0 on its way.
- Apple has announced the iPod with video capabilities. 320 x240 resolution 2.5-inch screen. MPEG4.

I'm excited because I love new toys that are cool and gimicky. However, the likelihood of me watching videos on a 2.5 inch display is slim to none. Why? I need a portable music player for the car and I won't be watching videos while driving. Also, I watch less than 1 hour of television programming per week as it is (and for the last 6-7 years I wasn't watching any television programming at all). There is no incentive for me to get the Video iPod if I'm not gonna use it. I guess anyone in the market for a new iPod will appreciate the bigger screen and video features, anyway.

Yeah exactly it defeats the purpose of watching a video. Frankly I'll save the money I would spend on a video ipod and use it to watch the movies in the movie theather on monster screen with awsome sound.

if the prices engadget is saying are right, this is gonna be great. they are saying 399 for the 60gb version.

supposebly you can buy TV showes off iTunes 6.0. some shows include Lost, Desperate Housewives, Nightstalker, The Suite Life. I mean, watching Lost anywhere I want seems worth it by itself.

The only reason i would want one is that the new 60gb will be smaller than the current 20gb. After seeing people with the nanos, i feel my 60gb photo is huge. But i will probably wait till an 80gb or higer comes out before i upgrade.

Crap I don't think they'll make a new site if they don't call it something besides just ipod

i hope they do i new site it would suck for all us with just a regular one (

My guess is freepay will do what they did with the nanos. This iPod will become the standard on freeipods.com and then we'll see a second site launch specifically for this type of iPod for those of use who already cashed in.

I wonder if the apple store will let me upgrade my unopened 60gb photo ipod if I pay the difference. I'd much rather have the video ipod damnit.

I have read on another forum that they will, but you have to pay a 10% fee of some sort. Call up your local Apple store.

12-10-2005 14:06:34

They already have a site for the 20gb (now 30gb) and the 60gb. The videos replace the older ipods anyway so I doubt they'll introduce new sites for whores like us.

12-10-2005 14:21:28

I was just about to go out and like sell my iPod just to get this new one (I have the 20gb photo which I recieved just a MONTH ago from TRAINN). Then I realized that my PSP was on its way from FreeTech4Me.com so then I was like... blah who cares XD

An extra 10 GB and a thinner deisgn is nice, but do I really want to go through the trouble of re-downloading everything?

Well, XDDDDDDD now I wish I waited a month after I got approved by Trainn or taken the $250 instead ><

EatChex89

12-10-2005 14:31:46

dumb..

everything about this ipod screams GAY!

First, you can't watch real videos
[quote46b62c3eea="apple.com"]Watch video podcasts, music videos and your favorite TV shows.[/quote46b62c3eea]

Second, they took off the accessorie adapter thing that you plug the iTrip, etc. into...

I won't be getting it, i'm satisfied with my 30Gb photo.. but yea the only good stuff about the new iPod is the screen lock.

Very cool... you think that they will be selling the videos like they sell music? Would it be less quality? Cheaper?
