My friend emailed me this link [snip]
Well it pops up a download of a file (li.com)....I don't know anything about those files, but he's a good friend and says it'd just something weird/crazy.
If you dared and opened it, do tell what the file was and if it is malicious?

Well, a lot of people can spoof emails now, so it might not techincally be your friend.

Was it anything besides a virus and disables firewall, if anyone opened it?

nope, as soon as you open it, it disappears from your desktop, disables your firewall and starts the process lockx.exe.

Yeah, I got that from AIM. I got an IM from someone I knew and without thinking about it clicked the link. It got on me and my girlfriends computer. It was a pain to get rid of.

idiots. people usually have a way of sending a message. for example, if a person says "hi" instead of "hey" and you know they always say "hey" and a link shortly pops up, its not them. im glad i use my mac because we have no viruses ) )
