Soda, pop or coke?

Clearly the middle 2 shouldn't be choices, but I just wanted to see what everyone else thought.
The controversy rose in my dorm when some bums from Michigan and Indiana kept saying pop and (me being from CT) I was annoyed as hell about it. (Go make sounds somewhere else.) P

And just in case you were wondering what the country thinks -

nate08

06-10-2005 18:25:19

I always have called it 'pop'.

I live in Ohio though, and our whole state is blue.

One time I met these girls from Georgia who kept calling it Coke, and I was like, "what if you want Pepsi?"...

So they say Pepsi is coke. Orange coke, clear coke (like 7UP).

I thought that was a little strange but I guess it's just where you come from...

The number of people who call it pop and soda are close to equal. I'm from St. Louis where we call it soda, but I went to college in Iowa where they call it pop. Bugged the hell out of me.

Batman

06-10-2005 22:13:38

I call it a pop, sometimes a soda if I want to sound like a jackass. Does anyone just call every carbonated beverage in general "coke"?

Stroid

06-10-2005 22:34:14

we call it coke in GA but that prolle cause Coka Cola was founded here so we are biased and it pisses me off when someone says soda pop...soda is ok

tracemhunter

07-10-2005 04:14:56

i do batman. if someone comes over ill ask if they want a coke or something. but down here people understand that. an example would be"

"Would you like a coke?"
"Sure, what kinds do you have?"
"We have Dr. Pepper, 7-Up, and Sprite."

even if there is no coke thats what it is )

pop just sounds homosexual.

JuG

07-10-2005 04:21:38

Wow I thought people said Cola, I guess not. Well near philly we call it soda. I hear cola sometimes tho, but its from older people.

phoebe7

07-10-2005 04:53:56

Here in Wisconsin people say soda. I was raised in Illinois though so I almost always say pop. But sometimes I say soda here just because they think I'm saying, "pot", instead of pop. LOL. And I hate how they call a water fountain a bubbler.

johnjimjones

07-10-2005 04:56:53

bubblers are awsome. Between water fountains and carbonated drinks i love hearing the different ways of saying them. lol lol

dug1200

07-10-2005 05:33:49

i was born and raised in detroit....so its deff. pop....now that i live in ATL...its all coke down here...people look at me weird
